Which ones are good?

Noise is sort of a criteria, I don't want it to sound like a vacuum but otherwise not a big deal.

Also, my case is kind of crammed with wires, so it has to be small-ish.

The big Zalman roundy-round ones look very tempting.

Everyone says you need to take the mobo out to get them on. Is this true?

I have the Zalman CNPS7700-CU on top of a 4400+ X2 Toledo and the hs is worth every single penny. From my point of view at the top of the food chain you have the Termalright (XP-90 & XP-120) and then the Zalman (CNPS7700-ALCU & CNPS7700-CU). Thermalright heatsinks are really hard to get close to my place so I jumped on the Zalman option, got a pretty damm good deal also. :)

You'll need to do that with any good heat sink.

My personal preference is the Thermalright Xp-120, but you need to provide your own 120mm fan. to my knowledge, it's the coldest running air cooler on the market despite it's all aluminum design. It also has the potential to be the silent cooling enthusiast's dream come true.

My suggestion, grab a Nexus if you want uber silence while getting good cooling, or the biggest, baddest 120mm fan you can find to get crazy cooling. Or of course, get a reasonable fan and hook it up to a voltage controller 👍

ps. Avoid thermaltake. They're loud and mostly inefficient since the majority of their systems are knockoffs of better performing rivals.

I have the CNPS7000-AlCu LED w/Arctic sivler 5 on my A64... idle temps around 20C with coolnquiet enabled. Load temps I would'nt know because i'm too busy playing.
