Socket 939 or 940?

Yeah, AMD said that the 940-pin sockets will be for the server class CPUs. And I think they are going to change the socket of the FX-53 to a 939. Correct me if I'm wrong.
 
Wasn't the FX always 939? I'm pretty sure it was. the first version might have been 940, but now the opterons are 940.

EDIT: after checking newegg, it seems FX CPUs come in 939 and 940 flavors.
 
The FX started out as 940. They come in both flavors... If you want what's right and a tad future proof, get the 939 as I did...

[edit:] Ohh. Forgot.. The 940 socket FX need registrered memory, the 939 doesn't....[/edit]
 
Go for the 939 socket motherboards they are the better bet and allow some of the AMD 64's below the FX-53 to run on it.
