Anyone else planning on picking this bad boy up? The online following for socom is huge - 20,000 people are on every night on socom 2 and the game has been out for 2 years.

Huge maps, vehicles, new weapons...

Well, I play Socom 2 online like a madman. So I'll definately pic this up as soon as I can!
BTW my name on Socom 2 and will be on Socom 3 is Jeff13B I'm in a clan called [MIC]..
 
I´ll wait for the release to see if it lags much on my connection (320kbps :(). I could play Socom 2 on it just fine, but now with more people per room, bigger maps and vehicles I don´t know if it will run so smooth.
 
i'd love to get this game.... BUT i'm getting BF2 for PS2 (release date 10/25/05) oh yeah!!!
BUT..... most likely i'll get this game too. BUT i'm scared of online play, i mean i dont have a clan and i believe Socom 3's online play is clean. full of glitchers and hackers, BUT it'll be funny to hear Teens whining on my mic while i yell "GET A LIFE"
i dunno shall i get this game?
 
I agree. The BF2 console probably won't outsell Socom 3.
Battlefield has always been a series more suitable on the PC due to many things.

Besides, imagine what we'd have to do if we had the same BF2 bugs in the console versions.
 
anyone heard anything about these credit card rumors? supposedly you have to have a valid credit card number in order to become a "confirmed user" and join a clan or use the ranking system - that way if you cheat, they cancel your user name and you need to get a new credit card number in order to register a new name (your old credit card number is perma-banned like on GTP if you are REALLY REALLY bad).

It's all rumors just like a lot of things were right around the release of GT4, but it'll be interesting if they have some way of getting all the glitchers out of the game :)
 
Was just playing it online! Awesome! First game grabbed a tank and I jumped off a cliff and landed on 5 terrorists!

Yep, its true....What sucks is that my dad doesn not have a credit card in use so I'm screwed when it coems to going back to my clan....
 
people on the socom boards are saying all you need to do is to buy a visa check gift card. It has a CC number - just buy a $20 gift card, use it to register socom, and then go to target or something and use it up.

I have played about 2 hours online so far, and I would say the game is pretty sweet - it is NOTHING like socom I or II - it is a completely different game. I would compare it to counter-strike for the PC more than I would to anything else. The boards are HUGE and there's not the "run around in a circle and shoot" encounter like in socom II.

I bought from Futureshop. This game totally rocks. 32 players are a little laggy in a room but still GREATEST game ONLINE!

You gotta check your connection, or maybe you're playing with people in regions to far, because I RARELY experience Lag when I play in any room with any amount of people (32 being max).

Anyway, look me up: tha_con I'm down for games sometime.
 
I posted my review of Socom 3 in the "what are you playing thread" I personally did not like it. I thought socom 2 was a lot better. If you truly want the best FPS team based game then play you have to play Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. Way Way better than Socom 3.
Keep in mind I really liked Socom 2 but they did a really bad job with Socom 3.

Ya I ain't verified too for the same reasons sadly. My name is Jeff13b and I too favour the seals side. So anyways, I'm playing a respawn yesterday and I spawn in this crazy FPS view where I could see my hands and gun in front of me. It was crazy, I told everyone on my team what had happened and they all told me I was a crazy liar. So anyways I have proof of this glitch!



As you can see it looks like the camera was mounted somewhere inside my chest or sligtly below my chin. I wonder if they originally planned to have a FPS view like this in socom 3 but ditched the idea.. I had to play the game like this after the glitch, it was incredibly fun but a lot harder than usual.
