Already paying my Isp 4 Access
So as I saw some of you still photograph with analogue SLR's, i have a question.

I'm scanning in old negatives and I scan them in without using the built in ROC-Gem,...
So i have the negative on the PC.

What program would be the best to convert these.

I know about PS and the invert. Used it. It's ok.

I know i can choose on my scanner some preset films, but I read that it is infact better to scan them without converting and converting them later on (storage and back up aspect).

So what program do you use or which is best???

(I know Silverfast, Silverpoint and Colorneg, all of them are not free, and before buying I like to hear an opinion)

I would like a program with presets for the different film types.

Thanks

Thanks

Is it possible to "to scan them without converting and converting them later on"?

Yeah, with Vuescan you can save them as a .tiff and then you can just use Photoshop or whatever to correct them later on. You can also scan in negs un inverted (the colour scanning tutorial has a link at the top for his updated technique) but that requires anothe photoshop plug in which is a bit too expensive for me, especially considering that sampling the film base colour hardly takes any time at all.

Ok thanks.

The problem in my case is that I scan abut 10000 old negatives in and they are not in order or the right casing so on every strip I would need to choose first the best template (iso, manufactor,...). And on that number it takes a really long time.
My scanner (reflecta with cyberview) can also do a prescan in colour and than do the better scan if I got a good result, also it can reduce noise, dust and scratches.

I use non of them. I scan them in how they are on the neg. and want to choose later via plugin or standalone from different templates.

So I think I need to shove out money to try out one of the plugins.

This seems really good and cost 70€.

I think I will invest in it if nobody comes up with a free solution

EDIT: Just saw your first lin now uses color neg too. SO seems to be a good plugin.
