Did a little bit of wheel and interior cleaning today. :D And by interior cleaning I meant the dust and trash. I didn't feel like doing the engine bay. That'll be next Monday.

--> New intake!

I used this to clean the wheels: http://www.eagleone.com/pages/products/product.asp?itemid=1003&cat=5006

And let me tell you it took off that 10yr old brake dust like it was nothing. Its like night and day how they look now compared to before.

Before - After
-->

I know you guys think my car is ugly, but he's beautiful to me. :D

Now, what color should I paint him? Let the bidding comense. :sly:

Well, the body panels are all straight, and rust-free. that counts for quite a bit where I live.

Damn, that juice you used really brightened those wheels, too.

The driver's rear quater has a small dent, that can be fixed for $350 at a bodyshop but otherwise the only "rust" is the surface rust that I sanded and sprayed over. The rest of the car's sheet metal is straight. New fenders and bumpers is all I need for it to look brand new on the outside.

And that wheel cleaner is just insane, you spray it on and it like fizzes and takes that brake dust right off. You start to see the brake dust drip off the wheel onto the pavement. I was astounded at how well it worked. :dopey:

*edit*
Oh, and it was like $4 at O'reilly's Auto Parts. Not a bad deal.

Paint it Red.

IROC-Z Red.

You talking fire engine red or the deeper almost maroon red? As a general rule I hate red (my car WAS fire engine red on red when I bought it)--but a deep or maroon red is a good color.

*edit*
Other than the T-Tops this is what mine looked like--and I still have the original wheels.

That blue along with a metallic-less black and a white base-coated orange are my top 3 choices so far. But, someone may come along and post a color I have neglected. I still think the blue or orange would be the best since they aren't as popular as black.

.......💡

WOW DID YOU SEE THAT WHEEL CLEANER GO!?

I second the blue nomination.

whats wrong with the flat black? :dopey:

I don't know, I haven't seen a 3rd generation Camaro with that paint on it.

*edit*
Here's the before and after closer together so you can see the difference.

Nice.

So, searching for a 400? :D

I really want to take a Firebird of the same age and do that. Re-engineer the whole car to do 200, underbody, spoilers, tabs, the lot. And if possible, make it all active, paint it jet black, and put a long nose and bowling ball hubcaps on iit.

Shelby Mustangs can KITT, my ass.

:D

I think my engine choice has gone from an LS1/LT1 dream machine to a simple rebuild of the 305 and go carbureted then once I get the interior and exterior redone completely I think I might piss of fellow GM owners by putting in a 302 Ford V8 from a Mustang GT. ;)

I have an article where a guy had a 305 with some suspension and handling hopups, and he simply ordered a 400 short block and stripped everything off the 305 and swapped it across.

Of course, now you can't buy a 400 short block ex-GM, and the short-rod cast-crank is not worth it. A 350 HO engine is a good engine.

You could put a fuel injection system on it. Later, you can upgrade the short block later and pop it back on.

JCE I say keep the car the way it is, accept put a LS1 or that 305 in it and just get new seat and steering wheel and you got one hell of a sleeper. Personally that gen Camaro is meant to have have a bad ass enginer and a rough exterior. Simply beautiful that way 👍

Hmm, might have to get some of that wheel cleaner myself. The oldschool phonedials on the 7 have a lot of brake dust on them. You're car looks great btw! I'm always strangely attracted to 3rd gens for some reason.

Thanks, it is a beauty for those that see through the rough edges. :D I'm going to get a new 3rd gen Camaro steering wheel...preferably one in pristine shape and I plan on getting some 4th gen 2000-2002 Camaro or Trans-Am seats...leather if I can find them cheap.

Thanks! Because 3rd gens are the sexiest Fbodies ever...only a 1969 SS comes close. And you need to get some of that Eagle One stuff, its just plain good. 👍

I personally don't like it. I never really liked seemingly blocky, unaerodynamic bodies.

2 good reasons why the front nose isn't aerodynamic.

  1. You need that huge mouth to get as much air in there as possible for cooling...and trust me you need it.
  2. The headlights were a fashion statement. I'm getting smoke covers for them.

At least your comment wasn't personally insulting, so I thank you for that. :D

You should also get a Supra spoiler, a couple Type-R badges, swap the front end with a Corolla so it would be totally JDM, and a vinal down the side saying "V-TEK DRYFTER" oh not to mention some dub rimz. That would be hawt :D

I've seen a Supra spoiler on one of these before and it made me vomit in my mouth.

Oh wow. That is pretty bad; Supra spoiler really only look good on a Supra.

But yeah your Camaro, makes me want one, since they are a time a dozen here, and give it a brand spankin new LS1. Strip most of it :D I won't need any heaters or anything since I'm moving to Florida, so I can take out all those luxury's that make it heavier. 👍

Florida? You're gonna want to keep the "luxury" of A/C.

Unless you like weight loss via sweat.

It's not that different from where I live, and I have been too Florida 4 different times all during the summer. I'm quite used to the heat and it doesn't bother me that much :P Actually I bike here in the summer where it's about 95 in the afternoon. But yeah it would be nice, but I doubt that if I do get one, that it will have a working AC.

Ok, back to JCE's Comaro. :D

How hot and cold does it get where you live right now?

Ive been out to California in the summer before and it is a LOT more tolerable than Florida. Before being moved from NH to FL I thought the same, as I came down during the summer a lot, but it is completely not the case. Then again, it could just be the fact that I'm from NH, I refuse to let my blood thin out .

As for the Camaro, how do other people ride with you? Other than that, nice Camaro, should look great after a good paint job.

I ride by myself for now. After I get the vinyl floor I'm getting some late 4th gen seats. :D I figured it out--its going to cost me about $650 to get all the interior components I need minus the hatch motor, dynomat, and dash pad.

I just can't wait for it to be finished in terms of the interior and exterior paint.

But the car is actually pretty aerodynamic
