when you drag in 1/4 mile or ssrx what gives you a faster time manual or automatic, and a question about transmission i was tuning my gtr B.E and i flipped the transmission at 3.500(the final gear) is that a good place to flip it, i get 8.949 using automatic

i usually tune in automatic for consistency then once i think i got it pretty good ill switch to manual usually ill be faster sometimes quite a bit but then i usually tweak the gears slightly to reduce wheel spin.in an auto 1st and 2nd is gonna spin the same everytime but you can make 1st longer and 2nd shorter and quick shift a manual to reduce wheel spin.Every car ive tuned is faster manual then auto but alot of the fast cars are not as consistant in manual then auto.

The only bad thing for me with manual is that the times are not always consistent because you have to shift at a certain point, and if you mess up well your going to get a slower time. I also recommend what greedygenius said.

Well online, ping and reaction time can make your car slower anyway. Best to get used to a manual transmission so using one will no longer be an issue for you.

yeah I never use manual when actually racing but when drag racing manual is the best way to get faster times. In real life alot of fast cars use autos but they are powerglide's(2-3)speed autos built specifically for drag racing. We dont have anything like that on gt5 so manuals are teh way to go for fast times.

Off topic.
Add that to gr6 wants. Powerglide trans option and drag mode.

The premium '69 camaro and RM are fastest with auto. the shift points are freaking perfect

I was able to tie them with manual but not beat them. Needless to say, it was a JOY tuning those cars 👍

but yes, except those 2 cars (or any others like it) use manual every single time

I'm gonna tune the '69 SS later, its lighter and more powerful but I think it'll be slower with no downforce.

If you want me to save you some time, its MUCH slower :P

mine ended up about .06 - .1 slower than the z28 depending on launch technique

Yes but with 99% of the trash tunes you run into online, you'll whoop most people anyways. And besides, it'll look pretty on the leaderboards loll.

Yup that is so true 👍

although kleo's time for it on the board is very good, 10.454 I didnt beat it myself personally but I got pretty close.

I still have to break it in but we'll see how it goes bro.

how it is off topic?you sir need to work on your ability to comprehend what people say.If your going to try to play mall cop and say "off topic, wrong thread, rule violation" then atleast make sure what your saying is correct,

OP's post

Ease up there cowboy.. I think he was saying his post was off topic..

you may be right i didnt even think about it like that lol it could be interpreted either way but if thats what the guy ment my bad i just get tired of people always trying to play mall cop..if so sorry:ouch:

but yeah it should be added not necessarily a powerglide but the ability to create a gearbox that is actually full custom where you can do anywhere from 2 gears to 6-7 obviously with a car with 500hp 2 gears will have an extremely slow launch but say a acr with 1000+rwhp a 2-3 speed should be able to reduce wheel spin on launch..stall converters,2 step launch control, line lock, boost controller/adjustable wastegate would also be very cool

That is why I love my C6 auto trans IRL..

they are prob the best auto trans that is cheap and great for drag and streetability...my z28 has a 408ci,plate and th400 and my 93 notch has a 427ci lsx stroker with a t67 and t56 magnum.

Mines in my red '85 F250 4x4, 408W on a '75 351 Windsor block, 33 inchers on 2 tone (red/white) wagon wheels, 3 inch lift, black homemade industrial and 3" pipe bumpers, black double mushroom rollbar with 4 spotlights mounted on it, diamond plates etc etc. Spins all four 33s no problem

nice is that the same body style as the "highboy"? ive always wanted to do a 12v cummins swap in a highboy.I just sold my first gen 13mm p pumped cummins a month or so ago it was pretty much a sled truck with hood stack removed lol...5th gear rolling highway burnouts in a 7400lb truck:scared:
Heres a video of my notch before the turbo install in 11.50 class. It makes just shy of 690 on pump gas now.Its the black notch at 3.06, 4.17,630 . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WhhopV4WKg

No, its boxier and has pushed in front lights with wire mesh stone guards, the general size is the same though. I run 425 wheel horse on 87 octane, flywheel results have been as high as 540 but I'm skeptical having had it built before aftermarket when Clevelands were king. The motor before that was a 780 horse Windsor, but it the pistons ended up losing skirts and bowed the cylinder walls. Before that was a bone stock 300 Inline 6 (4.9L). Made 150 horse and 255ft-lb of torque. We opted for a V8 after we pulled it lol. 3 motors total.

sounds about like my notch first car when i turned 16 wanted a stang but my pops wouldnt let me get a v8 so i got it instead with the 4cyl  then around the time i turned 18 i thought the 5.0 was the greatest thing ever and threw a 302 bored .30 over in it and it felt like maybe 50 more hp to the wheels then i got smart and realized that lsx is where its at for fuel injected small blocks and had a 6.0 vortec out of an 04 escalade built for it...nasty little car now too bad it took 5 years to get there lol

302s are nice but I'd rather have a 351, 302s lack a bit of low end torque I think. Mines all carbed etc. '69 Boss 302 intake, RV cam etc

I was saying I was off topic. Because what I want in gt6 has nothing to do with the post. I was saying it'll be cool if they put that in gt6.

idk i had an 86 for a months with a stock block 302ci, andersen n-91 cam, probe dome top pistons, typhoon intake and ported heads with some other bolt ons put down 390rwhp and made power to 7krpm ran 11.60's thru a tko 600.They are decent but not all they are cracked out to be.

For a small block V8 designed in the '60, it ain't real bad. As I said I'd rather have a 351, more cubes is never a bad thing. I currently run 30 over, 400m rods and crank (notched block), decked it, wiseco small dishes, boss 302 intake, 69 302 heads with a mad port job, exhaust, holley 650, 2" spacer, msd ignition etc etc. She moves for a truck. All the torque is under 2500rpm, real stump puller. Love it
