For a small block V8 designed in the '60, it ain't real bad. As I said I'd rather have a 351, more cubes is never a bad thing. I currently run 30 over, 400m rods and crank (notched block), decked it, wiseco small dishes, boss 302 intake, 69 302 heads with a mad port job, exhaust, holley 650, 2" spacer, msd ignition etc etc. She moves for a truck. All the torque is under 2500rpm, real stump puller. Love it

yeah ive seen a few foxbodys with 351's bored to 408ci's they deff run good. When it comes to torque in a truck id much rather have a diesel tho...nothing makes torque a like a diesel,200k miles on a cummins,PSD or 6.6 dmax is like 50k on a gas engine.they hold theyre value extremely well and get way better mpg. That 1st gen cummins i mentioned earlier would get consistant 25+mpg cruising the highway and in town with the the fuel pump turned down .

street trim(pump turned down, wastegate set at 45psi,5inch turbo back exhaust) 560whp and 1100ft lbs tq and 22-28mpg cruising

pump turned all the way up, wastegate open,8inch mitre cut hood stack. 970whp 1970ft lbs tq at 76 psi Never really drove on the street enough to calculate mpg but turbo lag was stupid, smoked WAY too much for street driving

Eh, 618ft-lb plenty for what we use it for. Gets about 6mpg lol. Never cared for the sound or smell of diesels. A V8 running a lil rich just smells AWESOME. Not to mention the rumble of a stock 302/351 and then under load from 800-4500 rpm. Just ungodly how they sound.

This is what I mean. This is what GT5's Cougar should sound like. This is a stock motor, just no exhaust.

yeah no doubt fords(mustangs especially) sound better stock then any other stock cars by a long shot.

I totally agree thats one of the biggest problems i have with this game is the sounds of cars i dont expect every car to sound exactly like they do in real life but why does a 800 hp v8 sound like a v6 with open headers? idk about you but all the v8s in gt5 i have heard have barley any cam lope at all, supra's at 500rwhp turbo spool is ridiculously loud in real life let alone 700+ like on gt5.
this is my old 86 i was talking about 390 to the wheels and sounds better then most v8's on gt5 lol

I love that same sound out of Ford trucks. Its literally like bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh bluh

But fast lol.

Nice, the Fox body moves with a little 302 in her.

And yeah, I've heard a 3.8 with open headers out of a '81 Camaro in my shop and it sounds like a tractor, just like the V8s in GT5.

BTW, that Cougar couldn't sound any more exact than my actual truck's 351, I just have a mild RV cam so it don't sound like a monster 408 that it is under the stock paint. Think if anything my truck is slightly deeper. Runs a 302 firing order as well.

Yeah in that video it had a BADLY slipping clutch It was bad enough by 2 days later I stalled on the way to get new clutch 10+ times at stoplights lol...yeah my buddy have a 351w in his notch it sounded like a 302 with a little big block in it if that makes sense...love the attempt to make engine noise I just image a grown ass dude doing that in person lol but what car guy hasn't done the exact same stuff online and in person lol?

Hard to tell in video but from a dig by 130 I was a bus length ahead the guy with that 07 said his ran 12.8 at that time.

Yeah you SMOKED him. Bus length is about a full second faster. Looked like you had slicks aswell

Haha I understand, 351Wsare badass motors, they really are littlr big blocks lol

not slicks bald street tires with slipping clutch actually limited the power to where it hooked pretty good on launch rather then when clutch grab blow the tires off like the other guy lol, 351's and 460's are the same block right? obviously different bores but if i remember right they are they same.

just no exhaust.
just......

EDIT: Post #41
alot of muscle cars run straight pipes, open headers, cutouts or extremely high flowing exhaust.I see your from Switzerland idk if thats why it seems so abnormal to you but its not uncommon around here to see an older 60-70s muscle car, newer camaro, trans am,mustang or whatever with exhaust loud enough to set off car alarms.
I'm aware of this, but even a simple pipe changes the sound.

No look, what I actually wanted to say is that many engines would sound as ...ehm "exciting(?)" as this whithout exhaust.

EDIT: It maybe wasn't clear enough.

No 351w and 460 are 2 completely different engines, for example Windsor's radiator hose hooks up to the intake whereas a 385 series goes to the block.. A 460 is a stroked 429.

Yeah my truck has 2 3/4" dual pipes on it right off the manifold. Has mufflers and cats cause the 6 cylinder had em otherwise its emissions exempt since its older than 1996. Running open headers hardly sounds more aggresive, maybe a bit, otherwise just a lot louder. Having worked around in a shop all my life thats what gather, only issue is no backpressure. Hell I've run motors with no manifolds
