None of your business
somethin's goin on with my computer.

When I plug my camera into my onboard USB ports, the computer spontaneously reboots. It's as if the camera overloads the power or something, and causes a reboot. Then when it boot's back up, my screen resolution's all ****ed up. It just started happenning. Anyone got any ideas?

Heh, looks like I misspelled the title. oh well.

These would be the back USB ports. I don't have any on the front.

These ones are actually on the motherboard rather than on a card. They are USB 1.1 ports.

I should mention that this computer is like ancient. its probably 8 or 9 years old.

I've only ever gotten this sort of phenomenon by plugging the G25 into the front USB slots, or very rarely with other things on the front slots, so Casio's question doesn't surprise me.

If it's doing it every time, and on the back slots, maybe your power supply is weak, or barely strong enough to support your computer. Replacing it with a stronger one may fix the problem.

Back USB ports means you have a more likely serious problem.

I'd go out and buy a PCI card with USB ports on it, you can generally get one with 4 ports for pretty cheap these days (~$15). And it'd be USB 2.0, I'd hate to be transfering image files from a camera at 12Mbit/s like you're doing now anyway.

Well, Stock back USB ports are gone. Whenever i plug something in, Windows XP gives me a message saying that a USB device is malfunctioning.

So, now i've put in my USB 2.0 card that's been waiting patiently for this very thing to happen.

Is the camera the only thing that doesn't work? What about things like flash drives/keyboards/etc. If everything dies then your motherboard has probably carked it. Which on a 9 year old computer, you'll have a hard time replacing.

New computer time! Yippie! :)

Something freaky is going in when he used the rear usb ports.

You might want to try jiggling the usb dongle in the port, or try the front port.

If that doesn't work, try your dongle in someone elses port, that way you'll know if the problem is within your device or on the receiving end.

I got this computer from my Technology college. They have ton's of this exact same model, so i'll have no problem replacing the motherboard :P .

And yes, everything has "Died." no usb device works in those ports.

Uh huh huh huh. "Dongle" Uh huh huh huh. Uh huh huh huh.
