I got a speeding ticket about a half an hour ago. I haven't been pulled over in seven years. I drive that route every day. I was going sixty in a forty five. Most people go faster than that. I see people routinely go seventy or faster. I was in a big hurry to get home from Home Depot and hang out with my kid. But the cop had no sympathy.

1. Speeding
2. No AZ license (still Il.)
3. No insurance card. It's in my desk at work because I saved a ton of money switching to GEICO, and never put my card back.
4. No registration. In Il. your sticker is your registration. Not here.

Wow. That's four tickets. And I got home later than if I'd just driven the speed limit. I can't wait to find out how much this will cost.
 
Bummer, all I can say is: Geico sucks and someone hates you. Welcome to the club
 
Ah, GEICO. Apparently they aren't the best company ever.

Sounds painful. But like you said, it's your son's fault.
 
Wonder how much money you will have lost switching to Geico by the end of this.

You don't have Arizona plates?

It could have been worse. The other month - and by month, I mean year - I was pulled over in rural Arapahoe County, Colorado at about midnight in the summer doing nearly double the highway speed limit on Interstate 70. When the sheriff's deputy finally caught me he was so angry, he did a felony stop (stopping the car and doing the whole "driver, throw the keys out of the window" thing) and he handcuffed me and my girlfriend, whose car it was. He even made me do a roadside sobriety test. After all this, he gave me a ticket for reckless driving and excessive speed - both six points. I pled it down to four, though ("driving with undue care"). I personally consider it racial profiling. I'm white and was 23 at the time and was driving with my white, 23-year-old girlfriend in her laser blue Saab 9-3 turbo convertible with license plates that were coded to a rapidly-expanding "wealthy" area of the state (as opposed to the dump we were pulled over in).

I look for excuses to tell that story.
 
I reckon that cop has seen those IL plates a couple of times previously and made a mental note last time to pull you over next he saw you. They do that.

About ten years ago, a mate of mine enjoyed a 12 month license suspension after racking up too many demerit points. He didn't drive for about four months, ventured out one day, and then more often, until over the last three months of the suspension he was driving normally - to and from work, socially, all the rest of it.

Sure enough, the police pulled him over three days before his suspension expired. Turns out they'd seen the car parked by itself in a car park about three weeks previously, noted the rego was to a suspended driver, and kept an eye on the car for a couple of days. A cop local to where he worked got a note to keep an eye out for him that morning, and sure enough, as he approached the work car park they were waiting for him.
 
I have AZ plates. I just didn't have the stupid peice of paper. WTF is the sticker for?

I only hope GEICO already checked my DMV report. At least that way I can hopefully slip under the radar for a while.

They had a speed trap set up. After I left the scene I saw two more cruisers taking radar. Now that I think of it I came racing up on three cars taking up all three lanes, going the speed limit. I remember thinking "WTF is wrong with these assholes?" Then I saw the lights. Ha. I suck.

Good one. I beat the crap out of him when I got home. Little bastige... making me love him and want to be with him and stuff. ;)

Incedentally he intentionally hugged me on his own for the first time ever when I got home. It was awesome.:D
 
Ouch. We dont get pulled over here for speeding. They (the copper 🤬 ) sit in flowerbeds and under bridges with speed guns.

Then you get a tasty surprise in the mail 6 months later stating your exhorbitant fine. The usual tactic is to simply go the same speed as nearby traffic, thus lessening the odds you will get singled out.

I still think "State Farm" is a crazy name for an insurance company.

I am sure your getting pulled over had NOTHING to do with your drving TWICE the legal speed limit. What was the speed limit there? 65? 70? 75? You should be happy he didnt throw you into jail THAT NIGHT.

Racial profiling accusations from a white boy? That is first.

Make sure you send in your citation and contest the ticket. When you present evidence that you had insurance at the time and have insurance when you go to see the judge, that one should be thrown out or reduced. Get your plates right away. Show the judge the new registration. That should get one reduced or tossed out. Get your AZ drivers license. Shall I continue?

The only one worth worrying about is the actually citation ofr speeding. After you show quick and speedy compliance with the others, perhaps the judge will take pity on you.

P.S. I have had tickets for EVERYTHING you mentioned, and the only one that is even somewhat difficult to beat is the speeding.

My tickets over the last 14 years.

Speeding - 6
No insurance - 5
driving on a suspended license- 1
mechanical defect (insufficient lights) -3
running a red light - 1 (that was an accident, it isnt a habit of mine)
Unsafe lane change - 4


I had a couple crappy, nearly uninsurable cars for a few years.

Oh, and I like to drive fast.

I don't know how it is in AZ, but here on the East Side you have 24 hours to demonstrate proof of registration and insurance, which then nullifies those tickets.

I've never had very good luck protesting tickets where I was speeding, but I've known people who have.
 
I'm told if I go to traffic school the ticket will not go on my record, and I will, even though it costs $120.00. I'm also told that if I bring my registration and insurance card to court they will throw those out.
 
Well, good and semi-good news, anyway. The guy must have been cranky, because normally if they see you have a good record they'll just issue a warning and let you go, until you collect a few of those.
 
And I didn't even try to BS the guy. He asked why If I knew why he pulled me over and I said speeding. He asked if I knew the speed limit and I said 45. He asked if I knew how fast I was going and I said 60. And all of that with the utmost humility. I could tell he wasn't used to that. But it did me no good. Now I wish I would've smarted-off to him. I also wish I had big tits. I'm sure that would've helped.

I'm going to have to agree with that. Even if it was a 55mph zone...110 is quick enough to demand a ticket.

Putz.

Sometimes you can take proof of insurance to court, and they throw it out; you haven't had a ticket in 7 years, and they might give you "adjudication with-held" if you prove your insurance and registration, admit you were speeding all at the same time.

On the other hand, insurance companies don't hike up rates fopr not having insurance, they raise it for speeding.

Either that, or take one of those "comedy traffic schools". You eat lunch/dinner while you trade speeding/cop/driving tales with the instructor. Best stories get free desert!

You know It has been a significant time for me to. . . Actually to look on the more humorous side of this, (sorry Mile). The last time I was pulled over, I got nailed for those same things, but to add to it, I got another ticket for having too dark of tint, too loud of an exhaust, driving irratically, and the misuse of a motorized vehicle. So I got jacked out of the car by the cop and voilated several times in a row when he was searching me. I ended up fighting the tickets in court and got 5 of the 7 removed. The Exhaust I took to a shop that measures their sound and went to court with a copy of their calibretions and a rep from them. The tint was removed off the car. I showed insurance, DL and Registration too. I got nailed for speeding 5mph over the limit and driving irractically. The worse part of this was I was pulled over in Davie, Florida and it was 5 years ago. . . I was living in Orlando at the time too. I know Pupik knows all about Davie, and ///M might know too. . .

Where tax-paying residents refuse to widen roads, or have businesses, but don't mind having an immobile, rusted-out car on their lawn. Where sport shooting is okay, even if you live on a 1/4-acre property! Where the KKK still has the occasional public rally (not the kind with Mitsubishis or Subarus, either)...

The Martin Luther King day type Rallies. . . I remember right outside of Nova Southeastern when I went to college there they had a rall yon King's day. . . That was a disgusting sight to see. On top of that you forgot to mention it is the most southern place where she is not only your cousin and wife, but she is also your sister and mother. . .

My dad was pulled over in concordia missouri for "speeding", when the last sign posted was a mile back for the OTHER lane. he was pulled over for going 41 in a 35.
 
Oh my gosh, I'm only 19 and I think I got more stuff to talk about than others in here who are like much older than me. *lol*

One day I was going around 250km/h (around 156mph) where a 100km/h (60mph) limit was on the highway and a gatso took a photo of me. Unfortunately the car wasn't mine and it was heavily tuned. The owner of course didn't snitch on me, so I had the glorious idea to raise an objection in which he writes, that his car is not able to go more than 200km/h (120mph) and that it has to be a failure with the gatso. Guess what, it worked! *rofl*

Another one happened in Croatia with a friend of mine. We were going 130km/h (80mph) in a 50km/h (30ish mph) zone and got pulled over by the police. Luckily the police there are all corrupt and so he was pretty content with two bottles of beer and a pack of cookies. :lol:
Oh, there's so much stuff, I've gone through, when it comes to police eerm... harassment. Hilarious!
