This song makes me think of my first real heartbreak. So, basically every time I listen to it, I am thinking about her. :s

Amazing Grace. - My mum had it on her wedding day, played by bagpipes when we I walked her up the isle, it was enough to make you shiver. (No I'm not Scottish.)

Tracy Chapman - Fast Car, me and a friend from my old school loved this song, I moved schools, and when I hear it I miss my school so much.

Dido - Last this day. - she's talking about her premature baby on life support, really sad.

Ohh, I've forgot what its called, but it starts off with "Its been 7 hours and 15 days." sung by a woman, any ideas?

Moby - Bring Sally up - It's on at the start of 'Gone in 60 seconds.' my grandad used to play, and sing it with his guitar, the good ol' days!

reasons I don't want to explain

Because I miss when stuff wasn't lame

Yeah, Lostprophets. Very emotional (imo).

Laika by Wil Wagner confirmed for saddest song ever. It's about the dog, Laika, a street dog originally known as "Little Curly", who was one of the first animals in space. She died from overheating during the launch. Great song from one of my favourite albums this year so far but it definitely hurts to listen to. :(

Whiskey Lullaby is one that reminds me what could happen if I don't sort out my drinking for similar reasons that the song discusses.

Another would be Dust in the Wind because it makes me feel so insignificant.

Oh, and, Hurt by Johnny Cash always gets me because he knew it was probably the end of his days when he performed it.

Perhaps also Here Without You by 3 Doors Down. Not recommended if you're feeling low or missing someone.

We have threads for all types of music, how about "saddest song ever"? Show off your manliness and toughness with this macho thread. I'll start it off with some Chic:

Probably not the saddest songs but they're a bit, I don't know, they don't exactly make you feel happy either.
Can't be bothered getting links at the moment.

Slipknot - Snuff
Slipknot - Vermillion and Vermillion Part 2.

Language warning on these three songs especially the first.
Korn - Daddy
Korn - Mr. Rogers
Korn - Kill You.

The songs for me..

Edit: I only just realised I posted this in the same place..

La Mamma Morta from the opera Andrea Chenier - perhaps made all the more intense through it's use in a scene in the movie Philadelphia.

Best friend in high school died in a car crash--which I personally saw as I was tailing him back from a football game--when I went to see if he was okay, radio was still functional and Carl Douglas' Kung Fu Fighting was playing. There's no almost about it either...saw Kung Fu Panda new in the theater with my daughter and I had to walk out. Regretting bringing that back up but it's written now so I may as well post.

I can't listen to Wonderwall by Oasis because it evokes my best memories, but brings one of my first heartbreaks to mind.

Johnny Cash-Hurt and Johnny Cash-Ain't No Grave. Can't hold a tear when listening to these.

I have a few.

Taproot-I
NIN-Hurt
Anything by Staind really.
Gary Jules-Mad World

Just to name a few.

Most of you probably experience this when you hear guitar solos.

Personally, I experience it with other instruments, not so much on vocals or lyrics. When they hit a certain note, or when a certain melody is played, I can't wrap my head around why that sound is so beautiful to listen to. It's so good it makes me tear up in joy.

The erhu- I think it's an erhu, correct me if I'm wrong - being played in the following is one example:

Though it may be more impactful to hear the whole thing, you can skip to: 1:58, and 4:15 for the erhu.

"7" has to be some of the most beautiful music Deadmau5 has ever made, but I just can't listen to the original recordings (The ones on while(1<2) I can handle) entirely without having (What I think is) an anxiety attack.
