I recently purchased 3d glasses for my Sony Bravia. 3d movies work flawless through the PS3. No problems at all.

However, on the 360 some games require "Side by Side" to activate the 3d properly. Some examples are Crysis 1 and Gears Of War 3.

So I set the game to "side by side" in the game 3d menu. At that point I should be able to select "side by side" on my tv. It does not give me this option if I am hooked to the 360. I tried component and HDMI. Same results. Even the imanual on the tv says to just select 3d then "side by side" but it is not working. Any ideas?

I tried this on the PS3 and it gives me the option for side by side but not on the 360. I even used the exact same HDMI cables.

I asked this same question on the xbox.com tech forums and someone over there was very helpful.

Problem has been resolved!! TV now recognizes the other 3d options. I do still have a little testing left.

It was actually a combination of 2-3 things.
1. Component cables do not work in true 3d. Only "Simulated 2d to 3d".
2. I bypassed the HDMI switch. As soon as I did this it worked instantly. BUT......
3. I also realized something else while I was typing this. The other day when I switched from component to HDMI, I never turned off the 360. I just switched the cords and then picked the available tv settings. So I think the 360 or tv still registered the 360 being used with component even though it was using HDMI. If I had turned off the 360 then plugged in the HDMI cord through the splitter, I think it would still work.

The hdmi switch was defective anyway so I am sending it in for a replacement. When I get it back I am going to try the tv again through the switch and see if it works. I think it will work if I turn off the 360 before switching the component to HDMI. Or I could just simply bypass the component hookup all together and stick with HDMi but I would need a longer cord. Not sure what I will do yet but I will make the decision and follow up when I get the switch back.

I forgot to mention I was able to get everything to work. GOW3 with side by side, Crysis 1 with side by side, and Black Ops 2 with the in game 3d options. My tv had all the options for each game. I will do a follow up about the HDMI switch when it returns.
