This might not be a big issue for most of you who have official PSN suppport, but anyways:

[RANT]

I'm tired of having to tell people online that I'm not an Indian, same with my cousin who has to race under the Malaysian flag. I know many other people who facing the same problem:irked:

Come on SCE, even if you don't have official prescence or support, atleast include flags for all countries. If you do add them, allow us who have been disadvantaged to change them without having to create a new account:dopey:

I would've really loved to race under the Green, Red and White:(

I'm Danish, I race under the Danish flag, and Denmark is a very small country... So I'm surprised that some of yours aren't =P

^ Yes, but with Denmark being within a region where there is a good market, you will get support;)

Surprised me that Egypt isn't supported, considering it's the most populous country in the ME:odd:

Keep in mind that some countries demand offering support in the official language of the country if you're officially offering your product there. That might be a problem in some countries.

Sometimes they also might not deem it to be "worth the financial effort" to set up websites and such for a country, if it's really small. Unlucky but that's business.

When I saw the title I thought it was gonna say "Sony, let us race under the start finish line"

Seriously though, I'd like to see this, not for me as I'm an american but it would be nice to see where everyone else is actually from imo 👍

Good point!

It wouldn't be a problem in my country though, English is our second language:D

But what I'm referring to is the type of system similar to sites like YouTube, which as far as I know, allow us to choose from nearly all the nationalties.

People know I'm from the Maldives, although the site doesn't have an official subvariant.

If you use a PSN under your own nationality, in your case, Maldives, you can play online, but you can't use the store and the PS Home.

BUT, If they don't have your country in the country selection screen, then it's a different story.

I do wonder if there are financial costs to merely place every flag as a choice for the I.D. of a GT5 user in PSN. As much as I would love to wield the blue and white during the races (I am Guatemalan), if it means too much financial costs, I am content with racing under American colors. :)

Plus, it will allow players to stick and find servers much closer to their neighbors (since after all, players getting together and are far too distant = massive lag >_<)

Why can't we just change our flag to whatever country we want?

For example I live in the US, but would love to represent where I'm originally from (Lithuania).

Same problem here.
I would really love to race under the flag of my home country. But there is no PSN here.
So i have to race under a different nationality and that´s really sad.
We should be able to pick every single country on earth as our nationality.

I mean how hard can it be to implement nationalities to the PSN Account settings.

I already wrote an email to Sony long time ago about this problem. The answer was quite useless.

This is exactly what we're facing:(

I don't claim to be an expert on the internet, but I believe the only financial costs of implementing it would be to change the system, and the costs involved in actually finding the flags for all the countries:dopey: Do correct me if I'm wrong:D

Yes the lag issues could be solved, I was once racing against what I thought was an Aussie, only to find that he's somewhere else on the Pacific:ouch:

What answer did you get? Customer relations is apparently not a Sony strongpoint:banghead:

They could do either of these two things to fix it:
- Make the flag setting independent from the PSN account.
- Add more selectable countries, even if they are not officially supported.

Even if they do implement it, I really hope they don't go half-arsed about it by forcing us disadvantaged players to create new PSN accounts:sly:

Same here..I live in Europe - Latvia (baltics, same for Estonia and Lithuania) I use Finland Flag in Online.. and Im very very tired to explain people I dont speak Finland language.. and Im tired to tell people I live in Latvia.... its so crazy.. and very unpleasant, Im a big patriot of my country, and this situation sucks very bad. dont understand why after this 5 + years, sony still dont let us to register our real countries.. (microsoft x-box does it in 1st day of its release.. and I dont know why I just dont like x-box) im active sony user and Sony just spits in my face.. Still good hardware.. but some decisions I just can't understand.. :(

EDIT:

I did write sony, and answer was very useless. I heard that some near time ago ukraine got theyre PSN.. they created petition and some 700 + guys signed.. maybe we have to create something similar??? but a whole list of countries who realy need PSN and then singing would be in thousnds, that should add some attention from sony........................................ How do you think??

even guys who have theyre PSN could sing/sign <<< LOL (spelling mistake, will leave its hilarious :D I meant sign).. Some should care that PSN is full of fake nationalities.

My PSN account is American because the Brazilian ones don't have PS store

thats the best part.. I dont need PSN store.. I use different accounts to buy stuff If I need to.. all we want is to register our real countries.. only a flag.. that is nothing for sony to create.. 1 man could do this in 1 hour. just add a flag picture... no store no special translation no nothing.. just a pure stupid "flag" 👍

The answer was really useless. I don´t have the original email anymore, but the guy from Sony wrote something like this:

Your country is not officially supported. You have to make an PSN account within a supported country. There is no other solution.

ironic, i buyed ps3 for GT5 and I waited for GT5 about 4 years.. Sony just want me to wait all the time :D
