Why?

Sonys 3DTV's go onsale in UK/USA/Japan the week before the E3 show and they already have announced buyers of their 3DTVs will get free 3D games (or download patch) for Wipeout/Motorstorm PR/Superstardust & Pain.
Samsung & Panasonic 3DTVs have been on sale for several weeks already.
Other brands will also have models out soon.

Sony very likely will have 3DTV booths on the show floor and also a 3D demonstration via their own press conference. This wont need expensive shutter style glasses but instead the common realD cheap passive glasses used in cinema's. They just need to have a cinema style 3D projector set up for their conference is all.

15/01/10 "MotorTrend editor Peter Lyon was also able to confirm that a “3D version” of GT5 will be available “as soon as 3D TVs become available on the market,"
11/12/09 Hinojosa-Miranda / revealed that Sony was eying a vague "Summer 2010" release

Dude, I don't have any information about 3D. At the same time, the release date originally set at March 2010 then, much sooner than "Summer 2010", and then turned into "To Be Announced". If the delay was caused by 3D (Many of us don't know, it is a guess and thus needs a poll), 4 months of development seems not enough for 3D technology (it also needs a poll). So, actually, I doubt the reliability of MotorTrend editor's claim. That's just my guess as well. I may be wrong. Thanks!

Actually Since the cockpit models are 3d, I think it would be relatively easy. less than a week would be needed to get it working (considering a mate of mine showed a karting game in 3d at a trade show in 2006), the rest of the time would just be optimization.

3D GT in 2006?

Nah its not GT, its a game called Kartsim (demo should be out this winter in australia) and that's been in development for just as long though.

What are you on about 4 months of development for 3D. Where have you been? GT5P was shown in 3D back at CES in Jan 2009 when Sony first announced they would be bringing 3DTV games via an update. Your 4 months comment is totally inaccurate.

If others dont see a clear signal that GT5 and 3D are connected and that it only makes sense the game will actually launch around the same time to promote 3DTV gaming. Anyone that thinks Sony will have waited all this time and persponed their 3DTV sales till June but thinks GT5 will then somehow release several months later I think isnt thinking straight. Why also then hasnt their 3DTVs launched already or even in some countries. They are getting what seems more of a global launch and maybe thats likely what will happen to GT5 also.

Also take into account if GT5 isnt ready what other new AAA game has Sony got to promote this new 3DTV? You have to remember particulary as no other non pre-released game has yet been demonstrated in 3D. Yet GT5 back in Jan this year was already playable in 3D at CES 2010.

Furthermore summer is not usually a high sales period for consoles or games which makes it even more appealing for Sony as they know GT5 will sell no matter when its relesed. This imo then allows them to concentrate on "Move" for the winter sales period.

It all makes sense to me that GT5 will be summer 2010. If anything July seems more likely than October/November

Thanks for your correction. I am a newbie here, so I was not there to hear the news. Anyway, your arguments are so clear and convincing that I believe GT5 will be released in Summer! Yeah!

Isn't 3DTV a bit early to put on the market? I mean OLED just came out recently, and many people just bought their first HDTV.

3DTV isnt a from of panel lighting technology though. Its a whole new marketing possibility and viewing experience.
Samsung have 3DTV in LCD/LED & Plasma technologies.
Out of all those Plasma currently is the best technology for reducing 3D crosstalk/ghosting.

Sony I believe were developing OLED but have put it on hold.

Its going to be summer, trust me....
At worst I can only be wrong :)

Summer? all the rumors and retailers hint at october (or end of september), sure, you can think that, and nobody knows for sure (Not saying your wrong, cause I cant say that), but taking that its been delayed so much.. I like to stick conservative.. October!

So let try to understand this :)

We don't know anything, so we need a poll to understand? In what way should a poll, no 2 polls, help us understand anything? Will said result be more correct because we voted about it, using our knowledge as it is right now. That makes no sence, and would just bring endless amounts of useless polls, no offence. A nice discussion is always good, but no need to vote when we clearly know nothing yet. I hope you can see my point, and welcome to GTP :sly:
