Alreet Folks,

just awaiting to pick up a newly aquired ps3 from ebay and already went out today and bought GT5 ( plus fight night 4) to keep me entertained:)
As an xbox convertee I'm not a big fan of the ps gamecontrols for driving games, are there any hand controllers out there with a trigger accelerator/brake set up like the xbox ?

many thanks

Or look for a HKS Racing Controller. I've put thousands and thousands of virtual kilometers on mine. 👍

I too have that controller, excellent.Faster than a regular DS3. I would try a wheel like the g27 or if on a budget DFGT. :).

I'd recommend the DFGT anyday, if on a budget. May be the cheaper wheel but it feels good for the price of it. Got mine for £78. BARGIN :)

many thanks for replies.

Picked up PS3 tonight after work, just waiting to take control of tv then will be giving GT5 a crack, will see how the Ds3 fairs up before upgrading.

Will hope to be putting some times up online once I open a few cars up:)

have a good one all 👍

you can remap buttons. They sell controllers that look and feel like xbox but are for ps3 (for all the picky converters) :-P

Welcome to GT5 dude.

You are probably the only person in America that went from xbox to sony in the last two weeks LOL. jk

GT5 is actually pretty unique to not use the triggers by default. It's probably the only PS3 game I've played that uses the stick as the default, but I haven't played them all.

Of course I'm sure you'll also find that the PS3 triggers aren't very good as compared to the 360. I can't fathom how anyone could say that, IMO the PS3 triggers are much more controllable as well as more comfortable, but I seem to be the only one in the world who thinks so.

Funny you say that as i would have brought an xbox360 as they were cheaper than PS3 but they only downside of that console is the controllers!!! I don't know who the 🤬 thought of that design, xbox fans seem to manage but jeepers when i play forza at mates the only reason i stop is because i'm getting annoyed with the controller 👎

Btw, you can use the L2/R2 progressive triggers for accelerating and braking ( Dualshock 3) have progressive triggers, or the other alternative with the current controller you have is getting used to the thumbsticks for turning and accel/braking

Your not the only one, the PS3 controller is the perfect design in my eyes. Triggers, sticks, buttons everything all good.

I agree with you dude about the ps3 triggers. Ever since I switched accel and brake to R2 and L2, my lap times have gotten better and the stress on my hands has gotten less. During long races, in the straights, I use the joystick to keep the accel up but for the most part I use the triggers.

I tried the R2 L2 acceleration/brake configuration and had problems shifting. Its the opposite for me only for GT5 though as I have been using the default setup since GT1, I am a 'old dog' I guess :guilty: ..

Anyway, have fun buddy..

I just went over to Best Buy and bought some trigger extenders for like a couple bucks. It gives the trigger more surface area for your fingers and allows you to have more control when using it.

I remapped my DS3 so L2= brake, R2= gas, L1= shift down, R1= shift up. That worked great for me until I got my DFGT.

DFGT if you can swing it. Makes the game much more of a simulator rather than just being a game in my mind.

You can get atachments for the triggers(R2,L2) buttons, they curve out in the bottom to stop your fingers slipping off the controller, I've got them, cheap but so worth it, google them!!!!

+2

I don't see peoples problem with the Xbox controller, I like the triggers, I find it easy to control throttle and brake as there is more movement IMO.

(I am a PS3 person over Xbox)

remap the gears shift to your right analog stick. Up for shift up and down for shift down. better this way i guess.

I think this is the most common setup, i find it the most ergonomic and practical. But then i got a wheel and forgot all about it :D

I'm using Sixaxis and I can say that the default button setup is horrible.
I'm using R2 for throttle, L2 for braking, right analog stick for shifting gears and d-pad for RA menu, left analog is steering.
My advice is - don't buy a new controller, just change your button assignments and save for a wheel (or buy it now).
If you're looking for the best buy - get Logitech Dual Force GT (if you can find it).
If you have 300£+ to spend on a wheel get Logitech G27.

Unless your PS3 is in the living room and your wife doesn't like it when you try turning the couch into some kind of makebelief car. :)

Lol, Tell your wife to decorate the kitchen but the living room is yours:tup:

Unless your PS3 is in the living room and your wife doesn't like it when you try turning the couch into some kind of makebelief car. :)

The garage and basement are perfect places for a "man cave"

The man cave is for:
1. make-belief cars
2. "entertainment" on tv(I'm talking about sports :))
3. men only
4. beer
5. more beer
6. water
7. the man cave restroom for super bombs after epic man meals
8. farts

The living room is for:
1. family movie night
2. family game night
3. family
4. wife's book club meetings
5. friends that include females
6. wine
7. candles
8. air fresheners

The man cave, some say it's a myth, others live in it(until their wives get mad about their stench).

I played with my DS3 for a while (3 months at least), til I got a DFGT for $100 new. The DS3 is fine, I mapped the controls to match Forza as I was a convert too. To the people saying the DS3 triggers are good, they are garbage. I love the ps3 controller layout so much more, and prefer it every day, but controlling gas on a 360 is so much easier. I bought some of those real triggers too, but they barely helped, but I'm so much more used to them now.
