But SRSLY, got married a week ago today (Easter Saturday) to my other half (not either of my Skylines, that's not legal here yet).

Was an overcast day but it made for better photos. Lots of family and friends and a few randoms watched the ceremony (was held in the Dunedin Botanical Gardens, in the herb garden).

From the outset, me and wifey didn't want a traditional/boring ceremony. We wanted lots of laughs and for everyone to have a good time.

In brief;
- Wedding cars were three R32 Skyline GT-R's (a '350z blue' one, a maroon one and a gunmetal grey one), all from the car club i'm about to take over, SouthernSkylines.com, where i've been since 2004 and where i met her in 2007 when she turned up with her new Skyline at a meet.

- The 'joining of two lives' ceremony (usually done with sand, or by tying ribbons onto each others hands etc) was done with Wonka Nerds (the below flavour). I was supposed to be orange, and she pink, but got it mixed up on the day (didn't really matter though!).

- The wedding invitations were kindly made by GTP's GilesGuthrie. His handiwork.

- All the guys wore white suits, with white shoes/top hat and a custom made purple shirt. Wifey wore a custom made (all done by her Vietnamese Aunty) 'victorian' era dark purple dress, which looked amazing.

- The wedding cake was set up as part of a horse and cart, since we couldn't get a real one (no-one locally does it, for a reasonable price anyway!). The bottom layer was lolly cake, and the rest was white chocolate mud cake. :D

- The groomsmen didn't get the traditional cufflinks, shot glasses or anything boring like that. Nup, i got some trophies made up for them instead (has double meaning since two of them go to the gym, and the other... well, doesn't... ;)).
The best man's one had the wording changed from Groomsman to Best man obviously. 8)

They went down a hit.

- Everyone at the reception/breakfast later that night got an easter egg.

- My speech was made up entirely of thank you's, decided to add it below for ya'll to read;
Morning everyone.

I probably don't thank people very much for things, or maybe i thank them too much. Whatever it is, i mayaswell hand out a few more thanks tonight since i found a lot of unused ones in the National Reserve Tank of Thanks's, or the NRTT for short. Here goes...

Thanks... to me, for lasting this long today.

Thanks... to Tamryn, for wearing a dress.

Thanks... to custard squares, for being so yummy.

Thanks... to Sandra, our marriage celebrant, for all her work today.

Thanks... to Martyn, for the awesome speech he just did.

Thanks... to Nissan, for making the Skyline and a few other decent cars.

Thanks... for nothing, Lotto tickets which didn't win me any money.

Thanks... to everyone here for coming along today. I know we bribed some of you with money we don't actually have, and blackmailed some of you into coming, but i hope there's not much hard feelings between us now (especially when i tell you that being here tonight means that YOU have to do a speech next time we meet).

Thanks... to the Crown Mill for having us today, and for the food they've prepared.

Thanks... to Hiep for all the hard work she put into making the groovy wedding dress, bridesmaids outfits and these shirts.

Thanks... to you all for putting up with all these thanks's so far!

Thanks... again to Tamryn, for wearing a dress.

Thanks... to Matt and Shane for driving us around in their Skyline GT-R's today. And also to Hamish, who couldn't make it, for lending us his GT-R also. I'm sure Dad enjoyed driving it as much as we appreciated the use of it.

Thanks... to everyone here from Southern Skyline Enthusiasts car club, and Southern Rider motorbike club - me and Tamryn have met a lot of great people through these clubs and always have a good time at meets.

Thanks... to this bit of paper for helping me with my lines.

Thanks... to the Sony PlayStation 3 game console and Grand Theft Auto 4 videogame, for keeping me, and Nathan here, up until the wee small hours of the morning during the working week, playing against each other online in that crazy virtual city. Sleep was usually our second priority, which fellow workmates seemed to find out when we were tired at, or late to work.

Thanks... to Lynda for helping out so much with the wedding planning, and for sorting the meal tonight.

Thanks... to Amy and Sharon for photographing the day today, and Ken for capturing it all on film.

Thanks... to cats for being so cute and fluffy.

Thanks... to all those who gave us gifts, added to our wedding register, gave us well wishes and who laughed at or gave weird looks to the invitations that i was completely in charge of.

Thanks... to the Academy Awards directors, for not playing the "your speech is taking too long" music yet.

Thanks... to the first person who accepts this thanks as a way of saying thanks for me thanking you.

Thanks... to the bridesmaids who look a lot prettier than i do.

Thanks... to Tamryn, for such things as: joining Southern Skylines and thus coming into my life, for deciding to become my partner, for helping me through my depression, for being as random as me - or attempting to at least, for being so awesome and addictive, thanks yet again for wearing a dress, and thanks for agreeing to do all the housework from today on and let me sit around watching motorsport all day with an L&P in one hand and lolly cake in the other.

Thanks... to Martyn, Lynda and family - for cautiously accepting me and my weirdness into your family. You may get used to it eventually, but probably not, as i always try excel myself in the weird department - someone has to after all.

Thanks... a lot to all those who took time off work or travelled a long way to get here, and especially to Dad. It's awesome that you made it here.

Thanks... to Nathan, for the awesome speech he's about to give.

Thanks... to the Easter bunny, for all the Easter eggs. On second thought, i think you're trying to make me fat by having so much chocolate available at this time of year, so thanks for helping me effectively eat my money away.

Thanks... to those of you who are are still awake or who haven't left the room yet. Only one more thanks to go, so hang in there!

Thanks... to the three guys beside me, who'll now receive a special treat... Cufflinks, shot glasses and such are rather boring and traditional groomsmen gifts, in my opinion. So instead, you're all getting a trophy each.

GET TROPHIES

As you can see, there's a figurine of a guy flexing his muscles. And for those of you who don't have binoculars for eyes, the inscription says on each of them: "Some things in life require great deals of strength, none more so than accepting the role of Best man or Groomsman at Andrew & Tamryn's wedding at Easter 2012. Ken, Nathan and Adam took on the challenge, and won!"

GIVE TROPHIES

Oh, one last thanks!

Thanks... for the text on this paper, for finally finishing.

And so on.

For the honeymoon, we went to Queenstown NZ, and i got to drive the gunmetal GT-R back to it's owner, who lives there. Had no problem passing cars in the wet (once it stopped squirming along the road in 1st and 2nd :D) and most likely gave some people behind me a wee fire display (the car shoots flames out the exhaust sometimes).

While there we played outdoor mini golf (i lost by a huge margin, although purposefully did a million hits in the last two holes), indoor mini golf (i just won it), two games of ten pin bowling (i lost both because i'm not that great at it ;)), three luge sessions, which i won (to be fair, Tam has never luged before), went on a boat cruise around the lake, went jet boating, was lovely listening to the Chevy V8's, which made about 700hp and did a wee bit of shopping too.
Arrived back home yesterday (Friday).

Holiday's never seem to last long enough!

I'll update this topic as i get pictures of some of the things i've listed above.

But yeah - wedding only cost us about $4,000NZ (or maybe a bit more), which doesn't include the $2-3,000NZ cost of the breakfast/reception, paid for by Tamryn's parents. Some people said it was the best wedding they'd ever been to, and i had people say that my speech was the best they'd heard.

Had an awesome time, but it was all over so quickly!

Congrats, man! Sounds like an awesome wedding and honeymoon. Now, how fast did you go in the GT-R? :D

Thanks guys, and crb. :)

Speedo was way out of whack in the GT-R (different gearbox maybe) but i probably only got it to 150-160km/h or so, as i think there was still a 4km/h speed tolerance that day. Either way, i didn't want to risk getting a fine, or thrashing someone elses car too much. :o

Congratulations. It's nice to see a wedding that isn't so 'normal' and has a nice twist to it. All the best for the future.

I had a chuckle at the speech, that's definitely worthy of inclusion.

Thanks... to cats for being so cute and fluffy
^- My personal favourite. (It's so true)

I'm going to be a grooms man on Saturday next week so I'll be mentioning your trophy idea to my friend in the hope that he can come up with something original for his wedding. :)

Congrats! Your speech did get me to crack up a bit.

Wish you all the best.

Congratulations man. Wishing you both nothing but luck & happiness in the future. 👍👍

And not to be rude, but save up & one day, treat yourselves to a 2nd honeymoon and go all out. There is nothing wrong with the one you had, but I've seen you post here long enough to believe you're entitled to an even grander one. But, that's just me. Again, no offense intended. :)

I thought Weddings were meant to be boring and a waste of time. You obviously made yours the opposite. It sounded really enjoyable, and congrats on your marriage. 👍

Congrats!

May the Skyline-worshipping legacy continue for generations within thy family.

Amen.

Congratulations! Sounds like a pretty awesome wedding, especially the cars.

Nice one. 👍 All the best for the future. Ooo, can't wait for another GTP baby! ;)

Who knows, 14 or so years and there might be a mini SkylineObsession spamming the GT6 (if it's released by then ) boards. :p

The wedding cars as well... Certianly more unique than the usual rented posh saloon, and a lot cooler too!

Congratulations to you and your wife, here's to a long and happy marriage!

Because of this mix-up she wears the pants now.

The Wedding may be over quickly, the Marriage takes a little more time.. . . ;)

Advice from a married man: 'Never go to bed angry, for you will surely wake up with a cold shoulder.'

Once more - My very Best Wishes to the both of you.:)

ya know, people will say ohh now your life is screwed, the ol' ball n' chain. blah blah blah, tryin to rag on you but being married is the BEST THING EVER! just tell all those haters you ALWAYS have access to the bedroom activities and that usually shuts people up! lol

Congrats man! Welcome to the married club!

Thanks a lot everyone. :) Will hopefully try get some pics in the next few days!

Yeah, honeymoon was pretty much decided on a few days before the wedding, once we realised that we could spend some of the money we'd saved for the wedding on it. :)

I would love to go to Milford Sound one day (home of the worlds fifth highest waterfall, and on the other side of the mountains of Queenstown) so we'll definately be heading back there when the money has built up again. Or rather, if. ;)

Nice one. 👍 All the best for the future. Ooo, can't wait for another GTP baby! ;)
 Baby?? Ahhh, you mean another Skyline! Yep, i can't wait either! :sly: ;)

Agreed. Everytime me and wifey see Jaguars, Merc's or classic Ford Falcons etc with wedding decorations all over them, we shake our heads in dismay. ;)

Because of this mix-up she wears the pants now.

She fits all my pants too, which kinda sucks. ;)

Haha, true.

Don't think anyone there got the reference, but both of us had (in our custom made vows - which were full of laughs also), 'to infinity and beyond' right at the end (in reference to Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story movies).

The normal alternative, 'till death do you part' sounds so 'final' and not right. 👎
