I had to log on, hadn't for a long time. Saw a couple threads about how fast is possible and the sound barrier one that got locked? Well, it's not actually the speed of the real sound barrier but it seems Turismo does have trouble processing sound above a certain speed...
We did this a while back, I think the actual sound barrier could be possible but a longer straight is needed along with a few more people to do some fancy drafting. One of the guys uploaded a replay from speed night.

ah, duno what I'm doint wrong there, but here's the link

You can make it a round number in km/h.

600.

except that would be over 170km slower. 478MPH is about 769KPH.

It's easy to do, just make the suspension in the front stiff, the back soft, downforce off the front and all on the back. You're front wheels will lift off the ground at about 270MPH. Make sure you've got some good buds to draft off of and welcome to the 400+ MPH club. There's a nifty way to tune the trans so that 3rd gear will lift you up and the rest just drop a few RPM's while you climb past the games sound barrier.

The barrier came at 350.

You see? 600.

It's not just at super-high speeds that the game seems to lose it's ability to make sounds. I was running a lap on SSR7 in the RM Lancer (cockpit view) and after a little while the exhaust note would start to disappear. It doesn't completely disappear like the X1 clip above but it fades out so much that you can't hear it anymore above the transmission whine.
I used the look behind button and it was there as prominent as it was at the beginning, then reverted to looking forward again and it was back as before. It started fading out again after about 5 seconds, but the same trick restored it. This was all at around 170mph!

The speed of sounds is

sqrt(gamma*R*T)

So, it could just be really cold in GT world. -401.835 degrees F for 376 mph.

The fact that we are getting DLC supports this... Hell has frozen over and cooled GT world to -401.835 F!

On Topic: Great video!

Still a few degrees above absolute zero, so I guess it is somewhat plausible. I wonder what materials they use for construction and fuel, and if this helps explain the superdraft or not?
