Do the cars sound different with different systems?

Different systems? I can tell you there's a huge difference in sound quality between a TV and 5.1 Surround Sound. I've always wondered if the people who are complaining about the sound in game, are getting their sound from the TV.

If you are using a stereo setup, try changing output to virtual surround (in-game settings).
This improved the sound for me.

i think the engine sounds on gt5 are crap compared to something like shift unleashed , the sounds on gt5 remind me of the 80's video games , pity co the rest of it is pretty cool albeit a bit sterile
i have 5.1 headphones and the engine tones/sound are improved over the tv speakers , but still they are nowhere near the quality of shift , and no i'm not flaming gt5 , i'm just making a comparison , anyone who has the two game will know what i'm talking about
