Hi Cracker,
just found this thread. I'm the guy with the 911 you passed. Thought I would like to let you know that last year was my first ever season racing and that was my first lap at Spa. The car was running with a 2.2 with Webers as my injection E engine was being rebuilt.
The car was pushing out about 125 bhp so considering yours was 205+ I don't think it was too bad as you were only just ahead of me at La Source.
Great report by the way, certainly brought back some memories.
Are you there again this year? If so lets hook up.
Well done and sorry to hear that you never finished.
I did;-)
ps I'm old enought be your dad as well !!
Hello Paul, didn't realise you were so down on power
I was so chuffed to see your vid on youtube, especially since i only managed the first lap and a half of that first HSCC race before the crank went.
I thought your i'd seen your name down before at HSCC races in the past - obviously not!
We will certainly be aiming to be back at Spa again this year, we'd been trying to get there for the past 3 or 4 years but never quite made for one reason or another. We'll be trying to get to 3 or 4 other HSCC meetings as well as Spa this season too, starting with Silverstone in May i think. I'll keep an eye out for you in the paddock, the 911's blue isn't it?
How the hell did you find this thread/forum?
What laptimes did you manage in the cortina?
We didn't get any lap times timed unfortunately. My first practice session was cut short with a stone jamming the right front caliper. And my second, just before the start of this race, was shared so i didn't get any laps timed. Other cars that usually race in our series were lapping, if i remember correctly, at around the 3.09 - 3.15 region, so i guess we'd have got close to these times by the end of the weekend if we'd done all the three races we were entered for.
