Speakers Problem

Hi, a couple of weeks ago I Golded the Vettel Challenge.
When I got Gold at Suzuka and Nurburgring I screamed "YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!! *insert swearword* YEAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!".
My brother was using the computer with the speakers on, and now the speakers have been making an odd low pitched noise.
The speakers don't work, they make sound, but not the right sound.
For example, if you watched the Simpsons on the computer, the theme song would come out, but in a low pitched hard to hear version.
Any help?

What kind of speakers are they, can you give a brand and model name?

And I don't understand how exactly the screaming is connected to the damaging of the speakers.

Logitech, at the bottom it says PID: R634.
No idea how screaming broke them.
Okay. Do they look like this?

As you describe it, I think it's possible that the mid-high-driver is broken. It would be strange if this happens on both speakers at the same time though. That might point towards a problem with the amplifier. All of that is hard to tell without experiencing it first hand however. Nonetheless, I'd love to help.

Can you describe the problem a bit more? Do both speakers still work and both produce the same volume? Is there a noise that wasn't there before, or is it just the sound the speakers are meant to reproduce that sounds odd?

Very similar to that.
Thanks for the help.
No for the problem.
Say for example, sound A is supposed to play, both speakers play sound A but at a much lower pitch. A low hum.
The sound is basically changed into a low hum version of it.

So it sounds like when you slow down a record player with your hand, only that it doesn't play slower than normally?

Also, have you tried to hook up a different source to the speakers (like an iPod) and tested whether you get the same result?

This is what I would do. It sounds like a problem either with the amplifier or the soundcard. If it works with the iPod, it's your soundcard (which you can fix or replace), and if it doesn't, it's the amplifier, which you would almost definitely need to buy a new set of speakers to reset. If that is the case, contact Logitech.

If it did it after you put excessive sudden high volume through them, and now they don't seem to be producing any high frequency sound, then I'd guess you blew the HF drive units.

This could easily happen to both at the same time, since the cause of the problem would have been your shout through the mic... which is a mono source and therefore probably output at the same level through each of a stereo pair.

I don't think the voltage output from the mic (µV - mV ?) would be enough to fry any hardware inside the computer, but after it's amplified, it would be possible.

.. I could be wrong, possibly it just doesn't like you swearing?

This is why I was asking earlier, but as I understand it, the speakers were not connected to a microphone.

When you have the opportunity, please test them with a different source to find out whether the source or the speakers have the problem.
