I don't have GT4, but from reading the comments the last couple days, it seems PD has put more work into the look of the game, than the actual fun and joy of racing the different cars. After all this time being delayed I would expect something better. I was extremely anxious to buy the game, now I'm almost dreading the experience I'll have.

Ok, you're right. The graphics are madly improved, but... so is the physics. It's really crazy getting used too, but it's fun as hell. I haven't had this much fun since I played the FIRST GT. Anyone who is thinking of not buying GT just because there is a certain car you like, that you hear wont let you race, or that at the beginning of the starting line, the screen shakes. To tell you the truth, you'll be too busy doing other things with this game. Like I said, the physics take a while getting used to. Do not load up GT4 thinking, "this is gunna be easy, I've been playin' GT3 all week just to practice my driving skills". My brother and I would say that we are pretty damn good at all the GT games, but last night, we were struggling to even stay in 4th place on some races. Buy it, you may be annoyed by little things, but come on, this game is awesome.

PAL is also Australia, :D.

sucks you cant race the cataham oh well, time trials still has the green light though

I wouldn't worry about that too much, this forum is focussing on the negative, the game's amazing. Unfortunately that's been overshadowed by large numbers of negative people who just need something to whine about. The specialty car things a bit of a drag, but with over 700 cars in total to choose from, watching all these people complaining about it has been pretty funny. I bet you could GIVE some of these people a brand new Maclaren, and they'd starting crying about the lack of drink holder, or that the color hurts their eyes. Some people just live to complain.

I have to agree with you on this one Brok46n2...After spending so much time w/GT3, I thought GT4 wouldn't be that much harder, but alas, I was wrong....and to be honest, I'm glad it is! I will admit that my First Impression was not a very happy one, epsecially since I tried to take a Ruf out onto the Nurburgring & couldn't keep the damn car on the track for more then say 30 seconds! However, I swallowed my pride & spent a few hours going over the licenses & I must say, I'm now a much more happier camper!

I'm currently trying to complete the IB (I think that's it?) license test portion and only have two more to complete (Merc 190 E around the "Ring'", followed by another lap around the "Ring" using the Nissan R92CP (or is it the R89C? Darn..can't remember right now)....before moving on to the Super Licenses...

I will say to anyone here that is not happy about the physics of the game...go spend an hour or so completing the test section of the game & don't do it just to complete it...do it to become a better driver....you'll thank yourself in the long run if you stick with it!

You can race the AC 427 and the Shelby Cobra in races. That's what I used to spank the competition in the 1000km's race in the European Hall and the Classic Car series in the Professional Hall.

Something some americans dont know anything about! :dunce:

When in florida someone asked me where i was from, i replied 'Scotland' then the guy said, oh yeah yeah Scotland, thats part of England.

I said eh NO! thats like saying "America, yeah thats part of Canada........

GRRRRR 🤬

Europeans don't know everything either. My friend's British friend send clock as a birthday present to him. He send also AA batteries because he thought that they cannot be bought from Finland! Also some British people really thinks that we have polar bears walking on the streets here in Finland and there is not technology at all. That's sadly true. Some American people haven't even hear about Finland. They think that Finland is some city...

BTW did you know that in Finland mobilephones / person ratio is the biggest in the world and if you go with mobile phone in the woods anywhere in Finland you can still send message or call!

Back to topic: Are you saying that I can't drive Auto Union in races??? What about Chapparal 2J? :scared:

Explain please, i tought you could only have 1 opponent when you race with a convertible

1-opponent races are only required when the car is permanently open-topped (Caterham, Tank Car, Nike, etc). Convertibles like the Cobras, the computer will put the top up in order to get it in races with six cars.

thats crap though because you can buy caterhams with a weather pack so that they arent open topped why didnt they just put that on it like with the shelby in gt3 and not being able to race the streamliner is a bit crap

Welcome to the world of internet message boards! ;)

Seriously though, I do question the logic of putting in a bunch of cars you can't use, especially as prize cars in the early stages of the game when you actually need to bulk up your garage. But, I guess with 700+ cars, you should be able to find something you like.

Seriously I don't see what is wrong with complaining.. I mean I had GT3, bought GT4 yesterday. I'm not gonna complain about key features that are missing as everything's been discussed..

I had no idea about this.. seriously. I am just laughing at how stupid that is. A car racing game with cars that you can win and buy but that you can't race.. hahahaha! Did any of you making excuses think about it for just a second? I doupt that people who bought the game had racing in Arcade mode one on one in mind as their main goal. What's the message when you try to race? "We're sorry, there's too many polygons to render on that car to race it, if you want to race all the cars you buy, buy another game". Don't put the car in the game if you can't use it like intented! I mean they could've spent time on other missing cars that people would have liked in the game instead of open top cool cars that you can't race. If its limited caus of the PS2, fine, then what's wrong with lowering details on those cars? I would understand the car having less detailed graphics than "Well, you can race it one on one, but not in the actual career game sorry". I have never seen a "bandaid fix" like this before. Being any other manufacturer, I'd be laughing at them for that. Wow congratulation, you have made awesome graphics (not really that much noticable anyway) that prevent you from racing selected cars in the games because they are too detailed.. great work. Not like anyone wants to race all the cars in a car racing game anyway right?

Ok look at it this way..exact same comparison. You are playing a First Person Shooter, you get a brand new gun but then as you are about to shoot.. "Sorry, the special effects in the game are so good that they do not allow this gun to be shot in normal game play. You can only use it in the shooting range, Thank you"

Seriously I would have just not put the cars in the game at all if that was the case. Work on other non-convertible cars if the machine can't handle it.

Conclusion, I still like the game and will most likely play it as much as GT3.. but its just stupid decisions like this that ruined all the hype. It is just logic, sometimes you wonder people making games, do they live in the same world as we do? Would anyone argue that people in japan would rather have a car for fun than actually racing it? I'm not impressed as I expected to be but its still a nice good new game that I will play. You'd just think that they'd take advice from their previous user base considering they HAVE some.. It looks great and plays good and as a ****load of cars and tracks. Fine with me..

Yes this has been discussed to death. Try searching.

It has nothing to do with the power of the car. Nor is the car "special", unless of course you like it. It has to do with how much of the driver is exposed while driving and how much CPU it takes to render all of those polygons. Thus no more CPU left to render other cars. Simple as that.

The only thing you can do with it is run hotlaps in the free run areas in GT mode. I haven't tried it in arcade, but I assume you can time trial with it...

Man, the truth is all of these questions are being asked mostly by new members, and all of them have been answered before, like how to setup lan, use xlink, etc.

It's funny how mods don't aprove posts by senior members of topics that haven't been discussed sometimes, but they'll aprove evry single newbie thread that allready has an answer.

Chances are, they have their hands full right now. The game was just released in the US, after all.
