I've noticed that the font bar only listst a certain number of fonts. But I have noticed that you can use this font and others when they are not in the font bar. Should we bann those fonts? I do not think alot of people will abuse them, as long as people can read the font. Also, I noticed the same thing for sig's, mine has a special font, and I am wondering if that is ok.
 
Interestingly enough, the font you used is not on my computer, therefore I only see it in Verdana.

As with any font, if it's not on the users computer, they see the default. The listed fonts are the common default fonts. If you use others, please realize that others may not see them as you do, and you need not use obnoxious fonts.

As for your sig, it'll be a long wait. I'm only the fourth Admin on this site. The owner is Jordan. AltF8 was the other original. Duke and I came on board at the same time, earlier this year.

Well, if that is the case with the font, than it should not be a problem. Oh, and I wanted to be a admin for 2 reasons, I know how busy the staff is, and I have lot's of free time, i could help make the load less. And on 45/47 forum site's I have been on I was some type of a staff member. I'm just used to being a staff member, gotton zero reports of me abusing powers. If I have to wait for a year before I even have the sligest chance of any staff spot, I will give up on it, If I have a chance for any spot before X-Mas, I would love it. Trust me on that. Sorry for going a bit off-topic with that.

I PM'd Jordan about what it takes to be a moderator a good few months ago now, and he said no matter how good of a member you are, you are not guaranteed a job, so dont put your hopes up. ;)

And I agree with Duck, going on about it wont help things.

Edit: Sorry to be so picky, but it does stand out, in your sig Ram-Rod, it's "Waiting to become an Admin." ;)
 
Personally and IMHO, I think that the use alternate fonts/styles in general posts are a cry for attention (the exception being Famine, whose encyclopedic plethora of information, both pertinent and arcane, begs for it. ;) )

Special fonts/styles have their place, such as in Race Anouncement threads, Race Result threads, other comps such as the Photo comps, etc., and in announcements and, when tastefully done, in sigs.

Online text in general threads should always be san serif, since it appears backlit (by the monitor) and is easier for the eye to follow in backlit conditions. Serif fonts are intended and best suited for printed documents, as the serifs help the eye to flow through the text better in written, frontlit documents.

Changing fonts from the default, especially to a serif font, in a post also disrupts the flow in a thread, and is distracting.

Sidenote: At every forum I've ever been a member of, asking to be an admin or moderator before being asked is a sure fire way to guarantee that it will never happen.
 
If a user continuously posts in a font that is difficult to read, that font may be banned, but it has really never been a problem here or any other forum that I have ever seen.

I'm just happy to be a member, and a Premium one at that.

I'm already a mod/admin on like 5 other boards (all a bit miniscule in comparison :(), so i just manage to squeeze in posting on here. If i was asked, i know who'd i would reccommend for a mod place (no, it's not me :rolleyes: ).

Is it so cool to be a moderator? Some of their amazing super powers are cool, but along comes the responsibility. Right now, GTP is like a playground for me(thanks, Jordan! :D). If you were a mod, wouldn't it be like a part-time job? I don't know, I could be wrong. :p

Still my all-time favorite meteor to pass through GTPlanet's atmosphere. Take special note about halfway through where he actually uses the Report To Moderators against Jordan!

Man, I didn't even know about GTP then, but that's still the funniest thing I've seen.:lol:
 
Holy crap, that monster_man guy was one helluva character! :lol:

Anyway, asking to be a mod or admin is simply bad form, but the chances of ever being elected are even slimmer on this website, considering the relatively large number of constructive, intelligent, literate ( ;) :lol: ), and courteous members GTP has. :)

He was too busy with other aspects of his life to contribute, and his account was a security hole. You might also notice that many other moderators and Super Moderators were demoted due to inactivity. It's nothing personal, and they are always welcome to return to their positions should they choose to become active again - it's just good practice and helps keep the security risk to a minimum.
 
Dang! He really wanted that bad. I guess I'll just set here, enjoy GTP, keep telling my friends "Join GTP already!", and obey the rules. All I can hope for now is just to obey the rules and hope for an offer soon. Sorry if I wasted any of the GTP Staff's time with this thread.
