If Ferrari wants to make money on the F430 by massproducing it I have zero problems with that--infact I prefer it as the F430 is the only Ferrari on sale that's worth a damn. However, the F430 is just a regular coupe and not an exotic supercar. You can't be exotic if you're produced in those numbers.

*McLaren*
But the F430 isn't really a supercar to begin with.

It might not be an exotic (to you - to me it is), but it's definitely a supercar. It's faster around Fiorano than the F40. It's definitely a supercar.

Ferrari is just catering to it's demand, there is nothing wrong with that. They are sell cars and making money while other bigger names are not.
If Ferrari had any interest in making money, it wouldn't be through this. They already have their emblem on everything from $40 Coffee Mugs to their own "Amusement" Park. And people buy them.

Money is their last issue. As for 21,000 Ferrari's, it shows there is a demand out there for this company based on brand alone, and I don't think Ferrari really cares about limiting it's "entry" models.

+1

The brand itself shows how successful Ferrari is. A lot of people knows Ferrari would build top quality sports car since nack in the 50's. The prestige in motor sport did help a lot on how Ferrari is today. But I could not quite see how does "merchandise" actually help much. I know that Ferrari could make millions with the merchandise alone but they also need to improve the car line-up to cater to the demands. The whole SUV thing maybe is a bit too "outrageous" for a sports car maker to build, but if the people demand for it, no one would probably take "no" for an answer......

Ferrari should go back to its roots, forget about the perfume and laptops and release a car like this:

all i can say is: the dutch know how to design cars

who needs an suv when a shooting brake will also carry your dog and golf clubs?

Is that...a Seat bolted onto the back of a 599?

*Loads shotgun*

I consider it exotic, I just don't consider it a supercar though.

Except that's not Ferrari's creation, and the company who is responsible for that has had that up for over a year, and yet, no actual pictures. Most 250 GTO fans aren't that crazy about it, anyways.

The only thing I like from them is their 599 Barchetta design, although Ferrari will be releasing their own in a year.

My point was that, in my opinion, Ferrari would be more successful in retaining its exclusivity if it moved away from licensing the use of its brand on everything from coffee cups to perfumes and released a modern interpretation of some of the cars that made Ferrari what it is today - Light, powerful and focused not stylized to look like a F1 car.

I am aware that wasn’t a Ferrari concept sketch, but I think that it perfectly captures the soul of the Ferrari without being retro for the sake of it. It appeals to me far more than the majority of concepts released by Ferrari for a long time.

I am perfectly happy with Ferrari making thousands of entry level cars, but to my mind their higher level cars need to stir the loins and appeal to the inner school boy in every supercar purchaser.

Except Ferrari doesn't care about exclusivity anymore. If they can make money off, they'll do it. Hell, they make money off Ferrari thongs.

But if you want Ferrari's to follow that line, your best bet is either the limited-made 430 Scuderia, or the 599 GTB.

The 599 is no more limited than the 550 and 575 it replaced.

Perhaps limited is the wrong word, but compared to the F430, there really won't be too many.

It's much like the ratio of 360's to Maranello's.
