That's interesting, I also went and saw this with my 7 year old nephew, and he fell asleep.

Really! Looks like they lose on all levels, then: the adults see the animation with great distaste, and so do younger children. (Maybe teenagers will like the movie)

Being a fan of the original anime series, I am actually somewhat disappointed with the movie, but a comparison between the two would be very unfair.

i agree with earth the movie was really good. and for the people that keep going why is there a #6 on the car go watch it and find out. really good movie in my opinion

You know this film has been the biggest flop of the year grossing the lowest at the box office... EPIC FAIL indeed!
Your point? Transformers made hundreds of millions of dollars. Box office gross has nothing to do with movie quality. This movie deserved to fail (one because it is an hour and a half toy commercial, and two because WB was stupid enough to release it alongside Iron Man), don't get me wrong, but still.

Anyways, copy-pasted from somewhere else:

I saw it and essentially came away from theaters confirming what I predicted going into it: It would be an over the top, slickly edited pointless hour and a half of CGI that serves no real purpose other than to crap on what it was supposed to be paying homage to, exactly like most other Wachowski brothers movies (which is really sad, because they are a very talented team).

They took a show that was noted at the time for being adult in themes and story; pumped enough flashing colors into it to recreate a 1985 dance club; subtracted just about all reasoning for the story to even be happening through terrible kid-pandering dialogue (which is fairly odd for a show that aired during Vietnam that was geared towards people who were adults during Vietnam) and then decided to change things just enough that they could call it an "homage" rather than "plagiarism," which of course annoys anyone who bothered to stay long enough to get past the opening credits. Quite a bit like Transformers was, in that respect; however, Transformers was at least a Micheal Bay movie, so it got a free ride to be terrible. That being said, when viewed against the other two attempts at bringing Speed Racer back recently, it was comparably decent.

The entire movie experience was overall just like I thought it would be: similar to watching someone else play F-Zero while listening to a cartoon script, and while I think John Goodman as pops was an incredibly brilliant choice and did everything well, I cannot recommend so pointless of a movie on John Goodman power (despite going to see it for that exact reason).
One could accomplish a much better equivalent simply watching the series on DVD with a techno soundtrack playing in the background against a strobe light.

Everyone i know says the movie failed to the image it created from the trailer. As far as that goes, i am only interested in the car itself and the animations. Either than that i never had an interest. The Original Speed Racer cartoon never seemed appealing anyway

Someone uploaded the ending on Youtube

The video is a major spoiler!!!

This is the best ending I've seen in cinema since Toy Story and Jurassic Park

This ending is better then Indian Jones and Iron Man's endings combined. You could even throw in the ending of a few other movies and it still wouldn't match this ending.

And the thing is, this isn't the entire ending either.
