Bobox, is Shift 2 as mod-friendly as Shift 1 (I still remember the excellent Forza 3 to Shift conversions you posted ;)) or it's more difficult to add custom car models?

That has a complicated answer and I don't mean to derail but :)

* They did a few things to data formats to reduce load times which had a side effect of shutting off some of the 'live' (game running while you modded) plaintext edits you could do in Shift 1.

* Most tools still work and most of the same files are moddable, but quite a lot of important stuff doesn't work identically to the first game at all.

* At the moment there is nothing that lets you add a novel file to Shift 2, and until that's possible it really limits us in terms of just going and making overhaul 3 for s2u. Needs better unpack/repack tools, and the game's PC lead says they did nothing to stop this happening, but until a coder writes a repacker that makes it possible you're just going to see some kind of boring file replacement mods.

* It's important to remember that Shift 1 modding didn't happen overnight, though, and quite a lot of what was done hung off changes made in Shift 1.02 (and the file handling introduced to support the team racing/historic DLC). Supposedly the next PC update includes theoretical support for DLC in case EA decide to bring the S2U DLC to PC and we'll see what that does for us.

Hey boxox,

Good to see you back! What do you think of S2U, is it less buggy than S1 as far as vehicle data is concerned? Seems to be it's pretty good (and that is an understatement) in it's current state, may not need to be completely overhaul-d :)

Just out of curiosity, what's your nogrip id?

It's better but by no means bug free. I think there is actually something in their physics exporter that misses a particular class of bug (mismatched left/right settings) which is why they've managed to ship shift 1/exotic dlc/shift 2 with the same issue on certain cars. So still lots of things where eg. tyre pressure or ride height or whatever is still +/- 10 on left vs right side of the car on one wheel.

While the suspension geometry data is a lot better there is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of mass assignments, and there is nothing like what we did to the aero / upgrade system in overhaul 2 in there. It is still much better than Shift 1 at the same point in time, but it's not as if there's nothing we would change.. :)

FWIW though, every car we reported to them from Shift 1/Exotic with that issue is fixed. Just that it's migrated to different cars :)

So what do people enjoy about drag racing?

serious question, I'm don't want a flame war. I've never tried it, but really cannot see the appeal of perfecting a launch , and then going fast in a straight line.

So those that enjoy it, wheres the fun? and the skill ?

i think the same of ovals and drift but is just tastes. I think that this would sell more in the US, legend pack is more european. I need legend pack!! damn store!

I think that the game will freeze a lot at 400km/h speed of drag.

I want the Legends DLC more too but if I can Ill buy both to support SMS... they deserve it and I wasnt very fair on them at the beggining... I just hope they fix the freezing issues...

I spotted a trophy that needed the standing mile DLC (reach 250mph). DAMN... I know i'll do the trophy stuff eventually and i'll need that DLC also.

This sucks :D

Although I never dogged them from the beginning, I will support them and probably buy every dlc that comes out. They did a great job without the dlc and the patches. The patch just solidified the game and made it great and therefore makes all the available dlc worth buying, and I don't even like drag but I do like speed. If you have the LE version, add the dlc, this game just keeps getting deeper and deeper.

The fastest ive gone on standing mile is 276 mph.

The world record on the Xbox 360 is 304 or 306 cant remember.

Just got it. The drag is okay. Just 3 tracks. It is manual only and you shift with the right stick. You look left and right with the shoulder buttons. It tells you when to shift with the graph on top. Should be more interesting without the hud. The light tree is functional and you can get disqualified. Too bad it does not record your trap speed and reaction times or whatever. You do not do a little burnout before the race or anything. You still have to tame your car especially the high powered ones. There is nothing else to it. Wished it was more in-depth. NFS Prostreet still does it better IMO and Forza 3 still remains as a joke.

The standing mile is the same of everything but just longer and it only records your MPH.

I don't care about their cars although they do look cool but nothing really special. It cannot be cosmetically changed in any way. It is also stuck in your garage like it or not!

I just bought it for the 1/4mi. I like it and now I can't wait to build some drag cars. It is also cool to test your cars acceleration and speed. Online should be good but unfortunately my Gold expired a while ago. I haven't tapped into the career mode yet but in quick race the AI doesn't give you any competition.

Took the lightly modded drifter Vette (lowered and neg camber all the way on high psi tires) on the 1/4 and ran a 13.xxx...ha.

What i want from DLC is Koenigsegg AGERA :scared: nothing more, then i could compare Huraya vs Agera on the Ring 👍

"What's the attraction to drag racing"? Mmm'k. What's the purpose or attraction to the 100 meter dash? Same attraction. ALL OUT PERFORMANCE, period. No thought of endurance. Lay it all on the table in one massive burst.

Remember when you were a kid and ran short sprints with other kids? If you were slow and lost all the time, you hated it and opted for endurance races or jogging. If you were competitive, the rush of all out speed felt pretty good!

Oval racing is for the fans. Plus it's not as easy as "y'all" make it out to be.

To be honest any kind of racing is apealing to me and I really enjoyed the drag racing in NFS underground 2... but oval racing is only apealing if it has full distance, tyre wear, fuel sim, good damage modeling, and good draft physics, etc, etc, because otherwise IMO it gets boring...

I agree Tri, oval racing needs to be competitive. If it's not, then it's a bore. As a fan, NASCAR needs to do something to make Cup races more appealing to this "instant" generation. 4 hours & 500 (600 with Coke 600) miles is a lot to ask from your fans. Truck races are shorter and so are Nationwide races. Or go to a Saturday night heat race format on Sundays.

I'm looking forward to this DLC, not it's price though. It doesn't hold the same "content for $$$" ratio the Legends pack has. This pack should be $5. Or free if you bought the $15 Everything Pack.

The Agera is in the next DLC pack.

Indeed, buzz has it that

Alfa Romeo 8C Spider
Aston Martin DBS Volante
Audi R8 Spyder
Koenigsegg Agera
Pagani Cinque Roadster

will be in the next DLC.

The challenge will probably require you to reach the finish without messing up your hair too much.

I ride a motorcycle so yes :D Anyway with an helmet the damage is somewhat controlled :D

I think i'm going to wait for the 3rd DLC. Maybe there's a discount to buy them as a package. I have to wait until psn store is up anyway :(

I was hoping for something like this too. As a PS3 user I have to wait a bit anyway and S2U still has some hours of fun in it for me.

yes, wait until you can unlock the LE content... Those extra events are pure awesomeness. 👍

Don't have the LE though :(
Got the game for my 31st birthday from my mom and she probably didn't know about different editions and neither did my wife who told my mom I'd probably like the game :D I gotta love the women in my life. Here's to hoping my daughter grows up to be a gamer.

Is there any other way to get the LE content? Does EA usually release it at a later stage (I don't have many EA games)?
