Bobox, is Shift 2 as mod-friendly as Shift 1 (I still remember the excellent Forza 3 to Shift conversions you posted) or it's more difficult to add custom car models?
That has a complicated answer and I don't mean to derail but
* They did a few things to data formats to reduce load times which had a side effect of shutting off some of the 'live' (game running while you modded) plaintext edits you could do in Shift 1.
* Most tools still work and most of the same files are moddable, but quite a lot of important stuff doesn't work identically to the first game at all.
* At the moment there is nothing that lets you add a novel file to Shift 2, and until that's possible it really limits us in terms of just going and making overhaul 3 for s2u. Needs better unpack/repack tools, and the game's PC lead says they did nothing to stop this happening, but until a coder writes a repacker that makes it possible you're just going to see some kind of boring file replacement mods.
* It's important to remember that Shift 1 modding didn't happen overnight, though, and quite a lot of what was done hung off changes made in Shift 1.02 (and the file handling introduced to support the team racing/historic DLC). Supposedly the next PC update includes theoretical support for DLC in case EA decide to bring the S2U DLC to PC and we'll see what that does for us.
