just spent the last week saving for an FGT... essentially a required purchase that I thought I'd get over and done with now.

Been buying some new gars with little in the bank, and upgrading slowly. (golf and elise for special events).

Having no money and playing GT5 is now so much more fun.

I say if you got loads of money in the bank, then spend it all and have fun trying to claw it all back again!

(bold statement for a newbie!)

Laugh, I got 10 mil, bought the FGT and R10, bough a few extra cars and got the penniless achievement. Was a pain until I did a few races as I had NO cash and couldn't even equip a car for the seasonal events if I already had it.

And how long do you suppose it would take me to claw back over 9 million? I'd probably claw my eyes out first, through choice.

I've got 12 million, I'm gonna get 20 million then spend it all.

I'm in the same boat , have been stuck between 12-13 million since completing the latest seasonal events , bought a few cheap cars because i can't stop myself from spending some ,i'm trying to hold out for 20 million to get the trophy and then i'll blow the lot :)

I have 14 almost 15 million.
And there's a Dodge Viper #51 in my UCD right now, but 2 million is still a lot of money...

The trophy is at 10 million, I just want to get to 20 million because it's the maximum amount.

What would be cool is if we could save a few million bucks and then buy a nice real estate where you can put all your favorite cars in a nice garage with a nice big windows from where you can watch the sunset and..... ok i'll stop now.

GTFO!
But seriously, if you want a game like that, get TDU.

It's funny, i can save in the game, but not in real life.

(I have 4.5m in game, another million for that 787B premium that I must have).

I've gotten up to 20mil a couple times. Each time I get there I see some goodies in the UCD and spend a little. It's been down to about 16.5mil and back up.

yeah, I was waiting for someone to mention TDU. but honestly... that game sucks. really.

Yeah, I agree.
Too much concentration went into your character and your house.
When I buy a racing game, I want racing.
In TDU (number 1) there was only 1 race track, the rest were races on the street, plus the game was too short.

and car handling was very bad at high speeds. and also, who is waiting for some damn cops to fine you, I mean common, that was fun in Midtown Madness

I just thought I'd mention that the other day I spent every last cent in my bank account in RL and the first thing I thought was "Hey, I just got an trophy."

For those reading this post whom . . .

1. Don't already own a Formula GT
and
2. Haven't got their Penniless Trophy

My recommendation (if you are going to try and acquire all trophies) is do it when you are close to $5M. I can't imagine spending $15-$20M to get the trophy.

BTW- if you end up with a really odd number in your account, and you are shooting for zero, you'll have to purchase a used car which reduces your account to a number divisable by 50 in order to spend your way down to zero for the Penniless Trophy.

I had $20 million and it dwindled down to $2 million. Now I'm a couple of thousand short of $20 million again.
It's harder to spend now since I bought the majority of the expensive used cars and traded for the $20 million cars.

But since I just hit 20,000,000 again, couldn't I get the penniless trophy just by buying one of the 20,000,000-credit classic cars? I'd be literally penniless by doing so, after all...

My moto, save some, spend some. Spending makes room for more, I try to keep about 2mil in the kitty if I can (easier now as I have over 180 cars). Only two cars let in the race that I really want. The Enzo was my first big buy, just because I wanted it as it didn't really help me to win any specific race. The next one was a BIG purchase and it did help me win some problem races, Peugeot 908, one of my favs and a bargain at "only" 4million :dopey:. Credits come a lot easier win you get into the 100k races.

I've been spending a lot of money buying used cars but i always try to have at least 2 mil for the suzuki escudo (someone told me it is about 1.5 mil) I have about 500 cars now! just a few repeated.

It's getting hard to spend the money without just trowing it away. Got all the expensive cars and just buying all cars I don't own yet or buy some doubles just for tunign sakes.
I end up giving alot of cars away to friends these days just so I can spend big cash.
Also do complete car overhauls after every race lol

This auto A-spec grinding makes it possible.

Trophy wise, its a lot easier to keep your balance low in order to get the Penniless trophy than it is to get it when your balance is higher. Now if you already have the Penniless trophy then you can keep higher balances and spend when you see something you want.
