Splitting Power..

Are there anyways to split the power for chassis fan connectors?

On my mobo (A7V8X-X) there's only one connector for a chassis fan, but I want to connect two exhaust fans to it. Are there any possible ways I can split the power so I can bring it to two fans?

With the fans I use the connector lets you plug something in on top of it.

Otherwise, there are power cable splitters.

the fans should have come with an inline molex connector.

Either way, the mobo *should* have 2 slots for chassis fans and 1 slot for the cpu fan. Check your manual. The 2nd slot is usually either in the center or the bottom right...at least on the mobos I've used

Well, it depends on if you have a Molex connector (4 pin, standard EIDE hdd power plug) or a 3 pin connector. Either way, you can splice them together, then at the splice go straight to the 3 pin/4 pin connector.

Alright. I've got the entire thing figured out. My computer problems, to finding out what they are, to knowing the solution.

A new chassis fan, specifically, this will be arriving at my door in a few hours.

edit: Installation was a success. However, I have one thing to say.

With Asus Probe recording my CPU temperature at 45C at minimum load [1 IE explorer typing this up, MSN messenger with 1 conversation and winamp] (Mobo at 38), the fan is.. annoyingly loud.. compared to no case fan. (Peak RPM is reached at 55C, @ 4800RPM, rated at 57 dba)

In fact, the noise is almost as loud as if I had a conventional oscilating fan in my room. :eek:

You should have gotten a Sunon fan from FrozenCPU, they're silent. Especially since I have 5 120mm ones running at the same time.

Well, I didn't really have a decision on what to and what not to get. Personally, I would have opted for two of these ones running wiith the manual dial, but my dad insists on the heat sensitive one.

My case can't support 120 mm fans.. =\

That's what a drill is for.

Sunon makes smaller fans, and there are seperate thermal controllers to buy out there.

Nope.

The computer is in my room, so he just has no idea of how damn loud it is after prolonged exposure to it.

Did you get a chance to look at those Sunon's? They're sound output is tiny compared to what you have.

I would never put something like that in my computer, unless I never used it or it was locked inside some box.

Yeah, just checked out the Sunons. Looks pretty good but a bit on the pricey side for me (don't need something that moves that much air).. The overall processor temperature's dropped almost 10 degrees @ idle and 7 degrees @ full load already, so I'm happy with it.
