I've noticed some talk of this being a hard car to drift, I would have to disagree. Without any mods other that N2 tires and taking off the driving aids this thing is very capible for drifting, I can drift this car better stock than any of the setups I have tryed on here for other cars like the silvia k's ect.
I'm pretty new to drifting in gt4 too. Anybody else like to drift in the ss ae86? and who dosn't and why?

I like the plain AE86 the SS versions power band sucks you are either in the sweet spot or not, and with the regular AE86 the power band is more broad and easier to drift. But that is just my opinion :)

Well I like drifting the SS Trueno; but only once in a while since there's better drift cars out there IMO.

I don't know why but for some reason I find drifting the ss trueno much eaiser than any other car I have tryed. Only my secound day and I seem to have total control on most drifts and I really only have problems linking some drifts and holding drifts for long times but even at thouse I'm improving every lap.

I have a very hard time with that car, it looks good in a drift, but it seems to lack in accel. I stick to the easiest cars to drift, the d1's and the miata's they are realy easy to drift, and only require knowing about 1-3 techniques to realy get around the track...

i don't like drifting it simply because its slow. I like much faster cars, and speed drifting - drift fast into a turn, throughout the turn and out the turn.

You can do speed drifting in stock cars also.

I got a R33 skyline i drift with and its pretty good. If i use the trueno whether its the SS or regular version I like stage 3 engine tuning. High revs make things smoother for me anyways. But 4WD drifting is a blast i think.

The SS is a smooth ride but doing uphill drifts seem kinda hard since the power band isn't easy to control and the SS seems to run away from me but i use a 350z for my drifting since its well tuned for a stock car and yes drifting with it is a little harder than most but i like how it feels in the corners

I don't mind either the AE86 and the SS Version. But the only thing that bothers me about the SS is just the shift speed. Other than that, it's a fine car.

personally i use the SS quite regularly to drift, i have taken a few photos of it to which i will display once i get my USB stick back :)

its a prize car, and it can only rev to like 9K iirc.
mainly its the paintjob and rims and upped power that make it the ss version.

when do you acquire this car?
and can it rev to 11k? or what makes it SS version?

Also meaning Shuichi Shigeno (creator of initial D) version or SS for short, cause that 86 is supposed to be the one from the series, supposably it has a TRD engine, but yeah it's power to weight ratio make's it a beast.

It's actually Shuichi's personal 86, (as sourced by previous flaming on other boards when I claimed the same thing.)

The only thing that holds it back, IMO, is the (again) upshifting speed.

You can buy a Full Customizable Transmission for the SS Trueno. Usually, a FCT comes in with an extra gear (I think...kinda hazy....I rarely buy new cars nowadays, so I'm used to not noticing differences in my cars anymore.), but for the SS Trueno, it retains 5 gears.

Please, feel free to correct me, anyone. Like I said, I don't use the SS much anymore, and with it's slow transmission, I rarely ever hit above 4th gear in it.
