Spyker F1's customer car dispute

Does anyone know what came of Spyker F1's charges against Super Aguri, and Torro Rosso. Over the customer car dispute. F1.com has nothing on it.

I agree with them on some part that it costs them millions of dollars in R&D making their own car and trying to carve their own niche into the B-squads or compete with the top dogs. But at the same time Im enjoying seeing Super Aguri succeed (always for the underdogs). That and the rule is null for 2008 so its not like it will matter next season anyways.

Your thoughts guys?👍

Because it's an issue related to the Concorde Agreement, the matter has been taken to the FIA (marshals in Australia - or anywhere else, for that matter - couldn't do anything about it). Personally, I think it's a little pedantic. Realistically, Spyker could only really hope to compete with Super Aguri this season, and possibly the Toro Rossos. However, all hopes of that have been dashed since the Aguris were incredible in Melbourne. Call me a cynic, but something inside me says the Dutch outfit are trying to make themselves look a little more compettive by bringing the competition back down to their level, and because Super Aguri and Toro Rosso are so close to the works Hondas and Red Bull respectively, they seem to be easy targets. I believe the FIA cleared both the STR2 and the SA07 of being customer cars when both were launched. Something also tells me that one of the reasons Spyker are doing it because technically they're Ethiad Airways Spyker; their major corporate sponsor was expecting them to be much more competitive and they're trying to do everything they can to stop the airliner - and the money - from backing out.

Simple; If you don't build your own car, you shouldn't be in the constructors, or those constructor points should go to the team that supplies the chasis. That's what I feel. If you can't build your own chasis...leave the sport until you've got the money to do so.

I totally agree with that. And its not only the spykers that are complaining. Williams isnt happy about it too

F1 is starting to get rediculous. Max Mosley needs to be given the boot, all these stupid ideas he has is ruining the sport. F1 used to be about car devolopement, and lots of money. Now it's all cost cutting here, and slow the cars down there. It's not what formula 1 is about. Give us back slick tyres, give us back the low front wing, give us back moving parts, give us back skirts.

I want to see every team spending their entire budget every year to make a rocket ship, I want to see lap records drop every year, I want to see cars hitting 400kph at monza.

So if you're a team who can't afford to be there (aka spyker) GET THE F:censored:K OUT!

Do you really think drivers could handle all of that?

First of all - Max Mosley is doing a giant feat of a job with F1. Without him, F1 would be a joke. His ideas are all for the sport, not against it. His way of thinking is really astonishing, and just the feat to sort of outthink all the teambosses (whom just see to their own team, not F1 per se) is very impressive indeed. Things Mr. Mosley think up now, will take effect in years, not just on the short term. He makes sure that F1 is a competitive sport, and not just a showoff for the richest teams.

As for customercars, I think FIA wont find any illegaleties with SA or STR, since they outsourced the making of the cars to independant companies, that are not affected by the Concorde agreement. At leats that is how STR did it. SA I believe simply were given the plans for their car by Honda, but didn´t quite pull it off (FIA crashtests), so their car is pretty much in the safezone anyway.
