So lately, on our family's 2012 Ford Mustang V6, something odd has been happening.

For the past few days, when going over certain bumps, the rear suspension seems to squeak slightly. Not much, and not when driving on smooth road. But on certain bumps it will squeak for a second.

Is this a need to worry? Is something about to break? Will the squeak get worse over time? Do I need new springs? Could this be attributed to the extreme amount of snow and rainfall/overall humidity we've had in the area in the last few weeks?

Car has 58,000 miles on it if that helps.

Thanks in advance!

Probably a nest of rats.

Could be a whole host of stuff. Springs, bushes, universal joints etc. To be fair, a garage would be a better place to ask the question.

If it has a rear stabilizer, 99% that those yellowish thingies are the culprits.

Thanks you guys. Do you think it's worth taking it in to the Ford dealer?

I'm only apprehensive because we've literally spent $1000 in the past two days on upgrades for the car, a repair bill for something in the rear suspension is really not what we need right now.

If you've got a jack and stands and you're handy with a spanner it would be pretty easy to do yourself.

It's a pretty similar process to this video, minus the replacement of the anti-roll bar. Though while you're at it...

He mentions the bushes at 4:50, which what's making the noise you described.

If you are replacing the bushings, may I suggest before you install them you wrap them in PTFE tape or Teflon Tape.
