I was just wondering what kind of mods would need to be done to an SR20DET engine to up it to about 325 - 350 hp, and about how much that would cost.

Its not hard to get 350hp out of a SR20DET, Just use a JDM S15 T28 roller bearing turbo, exhaust, remapped computer, cold air intake, intercooler, high capacity injectors and fuel pump and it should make 350hp at the crank easy. For 350hp at the wheels youll need a bigger turbo a GT28-35 might just get you to 350rwhp, if not a GT-RS , TD06SH 20g or even better a GT28-35R turbo should.

This is all with stock internals, the SR20DET can handle it + some more, but too much more at the wheels (say 400rwhp) and the internals should be strengthened

so it sounds like to get 325ish at the wheels it's just a matter of the basics..injectors, computer, turbo, intercooler intake exhaust.

not too bad

Here check out this graph it will give you a indication on some turbo's ratings (note this power is rated at 1bar (14.7psi) they are capable of producing quite abit more)

Find what? the graph? Ive had that graph for a long long time

I know turbo chargers are usually rated at 1bar, plus I know for a fact that the HKS GT25-30 and the HKS GT30-37 both produce a fair bit more power at 1.7-2 bar.

Skylines Austrlia is where I originally got the graph also stated it was at 1bar, but they could be wrong I guess.

umm....is the graph for any car in particular?

im not sure if this is a dumb question or not, hahaha.

first thing to go is the headgasket

then injectors and upgrade the MAF to a Z32 twin turbo's

FMIC with 3 inch piping.. and perferabbly change the intake manifold to an aftermarket one.. the bend on the SR is a real ***** for piping...

i'd reccomend a Standalone engine management EMS or Motec or Haltec for example.. to really give u flexability...even on the fly tuning

then most importantly a T3/t4 with a nice trim... Spools fast and makes real good numbers...

u should be in the 300's real easy @ 1bar with a T3 it'll go 35 psi that turbo

The standard T28 turbo on the S15 and Pulsar GTiR are capable of 325hp if properly tuned with a few bolt on parts such as a decent front mount, 550cc injectors, aftermarket ecu of some sort. This is engine hp btw if you are wanting it at the wheels even a Garret GT25R with the .68 A/R exhaust housing can produce that and still see peak boost at 3,000 rpms.

Do keep in mind that roller bearing turbos such as the Garret GT series, HKS turbos, and apexi turbos don't like high boost (over 1.7 bar) {25psi} until you get into the decent sized ones such as the GT32 series and even those won't tolerate for extended periods of time before he bearings let go. Most of your big turbos such as the GT3240 and bigger are not roller bearing turbos they are bushed bearing for that reason, but they also take longer to spool due to more friction.
