Sorry for double post here, but change of topic allows me to do so :D. This was my weekend up in Connecticut at Thompson Speedway! A very classic track with tons of history . The facility was awesome, and the track had an awesome flavor to it coming on and off the oval 👍. Here are a few things to look at

:gtpflag: RACE DAY ALERT. :gtpflag:

Tonight we begin the David vs Goliath Series! Two cars, which are very much different. You will choose either the Sauber C9 Mercedes or the Ford Escort. It is your call where you want to race which car, so long as you use each 3 times (or less if you miss a week).

Tonight we travel to LeMans and Brands Hatch, each track providing a unique challenge to each car.

We will return to using PSN Party chat tonight as there are no special instructions needed for the race.

Hope to see everyone there!

SRM 20th Series

This is our 20th pCars series as SRM! Pretty cool huh? It will also likely be our last in Project Cars before we asses what series will come after in Project Cars 2! Thanks to all who made it possible to get this far. To the future!

Ford Escort RS1600 vs. Sauber C9 Mercedes
Drivers will pick one livery / number of each car. Each car can be used 3 times each. It is up to the driver to determine which car you want to drive, and in which race. Keep in mind, it might be worthwhile to try and pick the lesser used car for higher overall point placement.

This is a 2-Class series with a SINGLE overall winner. You will race in either of the 2 selected cars against the others in your class. Points will be scored as separate classes per race, but the race totals will be put up against all other drivers, with a single champion crowned. Because the points grid will have 2 winners per race, to vary the points totals, 1 bonus point will be awarded for each position gained during a race within each drivers class. Sandbaggers will be sacked.

Tracks selection per week includes one long and one medium length track to accommodate both vehicles strengths and weaknesses.

:gtpflag:

My livery choices for tonight. Looking forward to joining you guys. Also sent @sgohsixthree / smcinnis a friend request.

Escort. #52

Sauber C9 #9

Do we use the same car choice for both races?

Those liveries are the ones you should try and stay in the whole series. Nothing that is really enforced, but makes it easier to identify other drivers on track.

It's up to you how you'd like to attack the races. You can use one car for both or switch it up. But you can only use each car a maximum of 3 times during the series.

Points wise, It may prove beneficial to choose the less popular car.

Thanks for having me guys. That was a lot of fun. I'll come back as often as I can, but sometimes my wife gives me the evil eye when I want to race two nights in a row. But I'm sure I'll be back. That was the first time I really raced in a multi-class race, and it was pretty intense. Having to watch for the faster cars is probably more of a challenge than passing slower cars, especially when you're trying to gain on someone in your class. PCars 2 is going to be amaze-balls with the multi-class racing option. Thanks again, we'll see you soon.

I thought these first couple races went exactly as I imagined. And that was pretty rad. Fantastic job everyone, of course there were close calls and last second moves, and that is what separates it from other series so far. Everyone did very well holding their line when passing, yet respecting any battles going on in the Escort class. Newcomer to SRM @Gr8_Lakes fit in like he's been here for months, and nabbed a podium to boot! Meanwhile @etcetera_997 began where he left off last series.

Next week it's Silverstone and Snetterton, should prove an even bigger challenge, not to mention @SGETI and @mphile77 should be rejoining us!?

Looks like you guys had a good time, I should be around for Friday night, and definitely back next Tuesday for rounds 3&4!

Wanted to share something cool with you guys. You might remember a post I previously shared about analyzing F1 sim data using our product, Splunk.

Well, at our big user conference we will have 3 rigs set up playing ProjectCars and analyzing the results. Attendees will be able to play and compete for the top spot. (Dont worry, Im going to see if I cant set a hot lap for everyone to try and beat)

Anyway, that got me to thinking. I could likely set something up that would allow me to store and analyze that same data using the UDP function from the PS4, similar to pCars Dash. The catch is, I would never lose any of the data and could go back and review all my previous performance.

I'm going to try and prototype something using my data feed, but if I get it set up correctly I could also allow you guys to forward your own data to the instance for storage/analysis. Chances are I'll just prototype with PC and wait for PC2 to develop something larger.

The cool part would be we could look at each others data and see what others are doing different/better to help improve all our performance.

Step 1 is going to be trying to find some hardware to run this on or an affordable cloud service.

While not quite as involved, I actually looked into something like this (at a basic primitive level) as a way to get live timing on our website. @Br1mann has a program on his PC that captures most of the data locally. I was trying to figure out a way to aggregate that info into something easy to publish.

Enough nerd talk.

I sure hope to see more no life guys like me on tonight for some silliness. AC,PCars, doesn't matter, it's been a rough week dealing with my mother, I might even have a couple of drinks.....rare.
I plan on some AC for sure and maybe some practice on pcars for Mcinnis's series 👍

Sorry guys, i never made it passed Netflix last night, fell asleep twice before 10 pm :banghead:, so i put myself to bed .

SRM Presents
Knockout Night!!! September 5th
img_1859-jpg.666572

We will drive the Audi A1 Quattro, all night

img_1858-jpg.666573

-The Rules-
the only cars allowed to be knocked out of the races are the top 3, so basically if your in a podium position you can be taken out at any time!, from 4th on back you guys must respect each other the best you can, but anyone of you can take out the leaders at any time. Now here comes the crazy part, once you enter the last lap of the race it becomes a full on wreck fest, anything goes, anyone can go, haha! this night will be scored and a winner will be crowned so i need everyone to please finish these races!!! We are doing this because the last knockout event was a big hit, so you asked and we delivered! I want everyone to keep an open mind this night and just have fun and blow off some steam, this is what its designed for, so enjoy and don't get all bent when you get wrecked!

-Weather and Regs-
We will keep the time of day, tracks, and weather changing all night! I won't have anything planned at all, we will just roll with the punches as they come. The racing will start at 8:30pm est and last untill 10:30pm est. So we will get as many races in as we can in this time frame. The races will all be small 3 to 10 lappers depending on where we race? Tire wear, fuel on normal, damage on visible only, no penalties, no pit stops.

No tuning, hopefully?

Tuning is part of the game man, it will be allowed sorry :D

But it's so borrring, hopefully when we do stuff on a game you can modify your precious wheel settings independently from the car's setup, that'll change once in a while.

Then again, I'm talking to people who pay money to go to live road course racing and ride motorcycles, so your sanity is questionable to begin with haha.

Riding my bike on a race track has been such a high, you cant find that drug on the street . I never went into this adventure thinking I would be awesome as a lifetime everyday street rider, and boy I couldn't be any more right. Ive had to learn all over how to ride a bike, and tune it :scared:. Having no clue how to tune a bike suspension i just took what I learned playing video games and applyed it. I made big adjustments went on track and was like hell no, went back in and fixed it, i did this for an entire day till i was happy! Do i have it all correct , who knows but it feels good and it was less scary so it will do 👍. This was in real life...

This is in the sim world.....
I can have a quick basic tune on a car in ruffly 10-15min. The things i do for every car , tire pressure, fuel, diff, sway bars, springs, gearing, brake pressure/balance. I never touch fast bump slow bump screen unless im super desperate, i dont feel a big difference when I adjust in that screen. Yes because i use a wheel i want to set them settings, thats a natural thing to do :D, improper wheel settings can reduce wheel life, and with the money we lay out to play these racing games i want to protect my investments best i can.

I will post my tune for all to see for this knockout event, i can also help you for any other events we do as well 👍. Post up what problems your having and we can get you figured out. I hate seeing that you dont like to tune when its such a massive part of this game , racing is built around adjustments.

I was also wondering, do you have a mic? Im not sure we have ever heard you speak? Would be nice to get a voice to go with the name

I still just use the tuning database, go through the list until I find one I like, I just change the things I understand like the downforce, final drive and brake bias for each race, otherwise I just use the same one the whole series. I usually look for SGETI's name on there, otherwise the tunes I've been finding are better now, and I've been getting used to the game, so I've been doing better. SGETI's list helps sometimes. For the backwards race in literally just turned the tune I was using backwards and it actually worked. In GT6 I came up with a tune of my own for each drivetrain and applied it to every car with that configuration, otherwise I've always used someone else's. You know it's mostly because I hate practicing and putting more effort into this than I need to. The only practice I do is in qualifying. It's just a video game to me, that's why I will always use a controller, I don't care about immersion or realism, or spending more money on it than I have to. It's also mostly because all of the most fun races I've had online are no tuning. When GTS comes out I'll probably entirely do stock car races on there.

I'm not comfortable using a mic, since I don't like socializing or humans in general very much. I used one on GT6 a few times since I got more comfortable with the guys I raced with on there and I like them, but I don't feel like I have much common ground with you guys, you don't seem like the type of people I'd get along with really, and I mostly just like showing up, doing the races, and turning it off, having to think about talking to strangers will just cause a lot of unnecessary stress. 90% of the time in my real life I only interact with 4 people, my girlfriend, my best friend, and my parents, other than going through the motions with people at work.

Haha I understand people and their motorcycles, it's just something that is completely outside my realm of thought. I mean sometimes I see a 70s or 80s Japanese bike, usually black with orange stripes, and like it, but otherwise anything with 2 wheels has no appeal to me in any way whatsoever. It doesn't help that about the only person I know who rode motorcycles ended up with one less leg because of it.

We should do a night one time, probably before PCARS2 and rallycross cars are involved, where we do races in the rain on the tightest tracks, Horse Thief, Stowe and maybe a normal sized track to switch it up, fuel and tire wear turned to the max, all assists turned off, but we're allowed to use any car in the game, but everyone has to be different, and we pick cars in reverse order of the results from the last series before it or whatever.
