I noticed when walking close to my LCD HDTV the other day, that the sky on these stages especially, is ugly and doesn't look that dark up close. It seems like it is almost a dark grey to tan color. I messed with my TV settings and the in game brightness, but any darker and I won't be able to see anything.

I don't know maybe it looks smoother on some of your TVs that close, but on a whole, the game doesn't hold up too well when you get within say 2 feet of the screen. Still hell of fun nonetheless.

I don't get it, sorry.. what's the question again?

Why the sky isn't full on black or atleast a dark blue. This may becuase the lighting in the TV doesn't allow black. I have a LCD HDTV but I don't think he sky is discoloured in anyway. What company made yours?

Better for a TV expert to come along.

I don't think it has anything to do with your tv. Peoria AZ probably isn't a big city, so you probably don't experience the phenomena that is smog. The sky in GT5 on city circuits is brown because that is the color of the sky in big cities like Tokyo. Tracks like Toscana you can see each and every star because it takes place int he country side.

long story short, smog and city lights = brown sky.

This ^^^ 👍

It is just strange because from a distance on my couch, it seems to look fairly dark, but up close it looks pretty tan/greyish. It seems like there is alot of static noise in this portion of the sky too (only really noticeable on dark areas). I messed with the noise reduction on my TV but that didn't help to get rid of this. I guess it could be the way the image is getting converted to my TV, who knows.

BTW I have a 40in LCD Sony Bravia TV.

Turn all the auto-sharpness off too... that will help.

Incidentally; not many cities have a black sky, it's because of the lighting.
