Hello, just mentioning this because not all cars had these fitted & also electronically controlled sports suspension isn't fitted to some cars ( Mk2 Escort, Subaru 360, Sierra Cosworth ).GT5 would become more believable, if the A.I. made full use of factory sytems e.g. in an 09 Subaru Impreza STI the A.I changes between snow, gravel, tarmac & operates the dccd ( for drifting or not ).The same goes for suspension in some BMWs + Alpina beemers, Mercedes - Benz SL55 AMG, Bentley Continental GT.What are your opinions on this ?.Hopefully we get the full effect from the R35 GTR.

Not being able to use stability control etc. would probably limit beginners to certain cars that do have them in real life. I suppose there is standard physics too but I think what I said above would be PD's concern :)

What else can we think of to add to the game, so that it releases in 2020?

I hope they have this sorted, if you can turn stability control on in a 30 year old car I wont be too happy

Well for beginners, the cars that seem scary & weren't factory fitted, could have these driver aids ( TC & Stability control ) fitted by default & could come from a reputable company. Also can be switched off or removed completely. Also some cars are not difficult to drive.

I agree.

I believe it's too late already to be worrying about these kind of things, though they would be nice.

What does it matter if you can turn it on? just be glad you can turn it off.

About the different "modes" thing, the R56 Minis have a sport button that increases acceleration and stiffens the steering.

Keep the same system on NEW cars. If you want stability controls for OLDER cars, you will have to buy a computer part in game to turn it on. Everyone will be happy. Same goes for ABS for older cars, if you want ABS, buy ABS kit. ETC ETC.

The problem with this is that KY wouldn't just decide to include electronic suspension and differentials, he'd go the whole way. What's wrong with that? Well, have you seen the Top Gear where they 'tested' the BMW M5? You have to tell it how much power you want it to produce, the accelerator has five different levels of sensitivity (I think, or was that the gearbox shift speed?), and so on, so where would it stop?

Not saying it wouldn't be a nice feature, though, but then I think it's something that actually has already been included; GT5P's in-race settings menu has options for ASM, TCS, ABS, brake balance and front/rear torque split in AWD cars (well, two as far as I know). All that would need to be added to that list is settings for the LSD(s) and you'd get the same thing, you just need to know what the equivalent settings are.

Edit: Launch control would be nice, like traction control but only for getting off the line.

About BMW M5, we don't need all the 5 settings, just the highest SPORT setting ON all the time, but what we do want is to not have any aids on or settings on for old cars that don't include anything.

Another thing that bothers me, Don't some sports cars allready have NEGATIVE chamber angle right out of factory? While in GT, and maybe all other games chamber angle is always set to 0 unless you set it yourself..

Forgot about this (because we never use it ) but there's also a button to turn stability control off.

I agree, whatever aids each car comes with in real life should be the same on GT5 e.g. if a car has T/C that has 2 settings (on/off) it should be the same on GT5 with no adjustments for how strong or weak you want it, if you want to fine tune the T/C or add it to an older car then you should buy one of those T/C computer things. Also T/C systems work differently from car to car so the standard T/C on each car should be set up to be as close as possible to the real thing. Same goes for centre diffs & suspension, my Evo 8 has 3 ACD settings so that’s all you should have on GT5 but in every race (not like in GT5P where ACD adjustment is only available in expert races) and if you want to do fine adjustments then buy an aftermarket one like on GT4.

Anyone want to add anything to this thread ?.

Drive/auto mode, sport-auto mode for production cars that have automatic or semi-automatic transmissions.
Proper PRND321 selector simulation for older automatics :)

^^ Just like Enthusia then cool.

In Enthusia however it was very hard to keep automatic transmissions at low rpm, as if they were stuck in Sport mode. Also the auto/semi-auto selection was possible only before the start of the race. With the real-time GT5P/GT5 car settings selector dial it shuld be possible to select this "on the fly", if implemented (like for all other options such as ESP on/off, sport suspension mode if available, etc).

Let's be honest, as nice as it would be for PD to include this they never will because then beginners won't be able to drive those cars which isn't fair on them. Just because they are a casual gamer it doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to drive the older cars.

Its better to think of the ABS, TC and Stabilty on/off options as driver attributes rather than the actual car itself. So if you're in, for example, an old Mini and you've got the TC and stability control on, then you've given the driver these skills and not the car.

That's the reason why PD should keep automated manual cars, for casual players.Leaving more experienced players to drive fully simulated cars, in the way Shirakawa said.Everyone is happy then.If you can't drive a car, after learning how to use an automatic gearbox it's time to pack in really.

I hope they realistically model the springiness of the seat cushions so my driver's virtual ass is properly jostled when doing laps on the 'ring.

Right you mean the skills are in the car, for the driver to exploit ?.That's the true nature of driving/racing cars in reality 👍.

The solution for that is to let the player select one of three transmission settings before the race:

Assisted auto -> like AT, would automatically select the best shifting mode available and perform (sub)optimal automatic gear changes
Assisted manual -> like MT, would automatically select the best shifting mode avaiable, but leave gear shift control (and only that) to the player
Full control -> lets the player choose the transmission shifting mode (PRND, auto/semi-auto, sport mode, etc) and leaves to him clutch (if available) and gear shift control (if a semi-manual transmission mode is selected)

I agree with this as the option to turn it off is and was always available, in GT4 ( as opposed to Prologue ) you could change the assists on each separate car instead of it being a general option, hope this makes a return in GT5.
It's mainly put on as standard for the casual gamer or those inexperienced or unable to drive without assists, which probably is the largest part of the GT5 buying demographic, for those who prefer a more realistic set up: just change a few settings which already are there, small inconvenience if you ask me.

Well, I've read many times in this forum ( in the Prologue section ) that the settings used in GT aren't literally translated or accurate as in the same for each car, for example a car which already has a negative camber angle in real life the 0 just means it's a starting point which already takes in account the negative camber as it is in real life.
Same goes for most settings ( ride height, suspension, etc. ) whereby the standard in game settings are mainly used to be a clear starting point and even the values used can be different from car to car.
Might seem odd at first but when you think about it, it makes sense.

if you don't like you can always turn it off:idea:

That isn't the point Gejabo. Why would i want to drive a Ford GT40 with traction control fitted ???.I want to do rolling burnouts, that make big clouds of smoke & fat numbers 11's on the track.Whilst listening to that Westlake v8.I want to do that, on the starting grid whether rolling or not really.

Wow, then they have to do this for each F1 car. DIF IN, MIX, DIF EX, FFA, GRP, REV, TRQ, MF, ... (Ferrari F10 steering wheel example). And it is different for each car, each season. I'm guessing this wont make it into GT5 :)

In fact that is the whole point due to the fact GT is sold not only to those who necessarily want a truthfully replicated sim, in fact the majority might not even care for or are aware of the fact a real GT40 doesn't even come in real life with traction control or ABS, etc.
We who do know simply turn off traction control or ABS or any aid which we don't reckon to be authentic.
If they did it the other way around ( making people buy TC, ABS, etc. in the tuning shop for these cars ) or didn't even offer this possibility on some cars ( despite it being inauthentic ) they might alienate a large part of the audience who also pay for the development of future GT games.
If they only catered for a hardcore sim audience GT5 wouldn't have been the game it will be now, the whole franchise wouldn't be the succes it is now or even still exist in its current form.
The slight inconvenience of having to turn off any aid seems a small price to pay, especially since turning off these aids have exactly the effect you're asking for, making the game more like a sim.
What's the big deal? It's just a few buttons to press and voila, instead of creating a game which will be too hard and unpleasant for a large part of the audience it's also aimed at.
