Im worried about Standard cars with convertible/detachable roof like some standard miatas or other convertibles that in GT4 werent posible to race without roof, being like that in GT5.

Could anyone clarify this?

Sorry for my bad english :/

I havent played more than approx. 4 hours, but i have driven a standard type Honda S2000 convertible in multiple races in career mode, and I havent seen it with the roof down yet, so i guess this won't be an option. At least not with standard cars.

its shame, because in gt4 we could drive with open roofs...i´m pretty sure they could do this in g5 as well

If memory serves me, in Gt4 you would buy the car with either the roof up or down and it would stay like that.

I remember it being an option, but only for arcade races.

WWWwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaa???

I didn't know you could do this in GT4...

I thought all convertibles were automatically top up, so that the PS2 wouldn't have to render the driver(s). Then there were the cars with no roof, which were only drivable when no other cars were on the track (Caterham, Auto Union, etc.) Lastly there were a few race cars that had to top, but were still raceable with other cars (Pescarolo, Audi race cars). I would imagine though, that GT5 should be able to handle the drivers. It would be cool in one make races like mx-5 cups and things to be able to see all the driers (especially since we get to design our own racing suits).

In GT4 it was usually that the convertibles would be shown roof-up in six car races, and roof-down in two car races, as the latter was a higher polygon model. (I think this was the same reason why you couldn't use the Caterham Fireblade in any races, the open top and external suspension blew the PS2's polygon budget.)

I think it was automatic in GT mode, but you could choose in Arcade whether you wanted six cars roof up, or a 1v1 roof down duel.

Not sure how this relates to GT5 where the standards are nowhere near the polygon count of the premiums in either configuration.
