The recent thread on Kazunori Yamuchi's remark about standard cars being in GT7 has shown a lot of people disapprove of his choice.
I disagree as well, however I do believe there should be a optional install/ free dlc pack containing the standard cars for those who do not want to lose the 800 or so cars, as that is, of course, a hell of a lot of cars to lose.
I think disc install is preferable because some people do not have an internet connection, it's only fair to give them the chance to use them :)

Not bad, but what happens if someone uses a standard online? Does the game DL and install the standard? So many questions, but still like.

It would probably be just like DLC cars. You can see them, but you can't drive them without the content key.

Great suggestion. A simple and elegant solution to a big problem. Personally, I want the standards to stay and I would be happy download or install them separately.

Perfect idea- we just have to download what standard cars we care for, and we save game data by skipping over the dozens of Miatas and RX-7's.

That would be a huge download size and some people have bandwidth caps and slow internet connections. Maybe it's possible but Polyphony would probably ignore this and include the standards in the game from day 1 anyway.

Interesting idea. the average player will never use a majority of the standard cars, so they're a good candidate for stuff to relegate to free DLC if GT7 is running short on disc space or optional installation if GT7 isn't running short on disc space.

I can't see why people enjoy getting upset over the, yet another, inclusion of standard vehicles in the upcoming title. They have enough premium vehicles to keep themselves interested for years to come. PD does not have the time to fulfill everyone's hopes, so managing to improve a number of standard vehicles between each title is worth it until they eliminate the number of standards by GT8, 9, 10...

The problem with this stuff is that there are a lot of standard cars that really deserve to be in the game, but that will never be premiumized, or at least won't be for a long time. Video games often only include three types of cars... the newest & best, the cars that are good/recognizable enough to still have universal appeal even if they're not the newest or best, and the cars that are classic enough to have a following again. If you think any significant number of worthy cars (or at least worthy non-JDM cars) from the 80s/90s/00s are going to get premiumized, well good luck is all I can say. If I had my way I'd have SN95/SN99 Mustangs, 4th-gen F-bodies, a Mk IV Supra, Ferrari F50, 550/575, 355, 360, Lancia Delta Collezione (or whatever it's called), GTO/Monaro, Aston Martin DB7 & Vanquish, and the list goes on, all premium. But unfortunately, I think most of those cars are stuck in no man's land for the time being.
