Standard cars with damage modeling?

Long time lurker, infrequent poster here.

Well chaps, I was just drifting my AE86 Shigeno Shuichi around Eiger short track and let's just say my controller driving isn't so good. I hit a few walls and noticed that the front of my car was all banged up and the body was displaced.

I thought there wasn't damage modeling, only surface damage (scratches/dirt) on standard model cars. Am I just out of the loop?

Every standard car's body distorts and displaces when you hit walls in addition to dirt etc appearing on the body. So you are kind of "out of the loop" :dopey:

As far as i know the main difference between standard and premium damage modeling is that panels can become dislodged and interior damage can be seen on premium cars only .

Interior damage? I haven't seen that at all. What is it like?

The interiors don't get damaged. On some cars, you can see some internals as the damage increases.

As far as standard cars go, it's what I call the 'marshmallow damage model': Looks like they're melting.

I'm only giving one example here, I'm sure there are more; the Ferrari 512BB suffers from this 'marshmallow damage model' too. It looks horrid, considering it's a premium model.

Yeah, you're right... Some of the premiums are quity marshmallow-y as well.

No, body deformation can happen on Standard Cars. The only real difference between Standard and Premium Cars for damage is that Premium Cars can have parts of the cars get loose and fall off. For example a bumper can be seen loose and hanging and on some cars it even falls off! Other than that though, the damage on all cars offer the same thing.

Minolta Toyota. Bob distorted the front right quarter panel by hitting the pit entrance at Le Sarthe every time they went in for the 24hr Enduro.
