Something has gone backwards. I find my self clicking the "standard" garage option 95% of the time, My standard collection has grown to 540 while my premiums have been stuck at 72 cars, Have not really been driving premium cars, Except my newer premiums, Lately, Mostly when the game first launched, drove only premium and then bought a standard drove it and i loved it, Then bought another..and another and so on, Now that i can actually customize my standards and also have a nice view point behind the wheel, Have not touched a premium since yesterday for the first time in a while(my drag C6 ZR1)... they are starting to collect virtual dust, 430 of my standards now have new wheels, after a day of making nice color combinations, And it's not just me, venture online and suddenly i'm a room full of standard cars, the community has seriously spoken, It seems standards are starting to take over(imo)

Expected Really 200 Premiums will only last sometime until You realise what You are missing.Adding changeable wheels and Generic cockpit improved things massively (That is why we wanted them).

i'd say they've not taken over but look more appealing with every update ;-)

I'm driving mostly standards because they are the more interesting cars in the game!

I play hood cam, so the graphics don't matter too much to me. My favourite cars are a mix of standards and premiums though.

Being a huge Gran Turismo follower, I've found myself having to agree massively with one of the biggest critics made about GT5: lack of consistency.

Standard cars are consistent, I mean... 80% of them are standards, 20% are premiums. Premiums SHOULD BE the standard, but they are the exception.

- Gran Turismo is known to have the option to buy used cars. That's one of the main aspects of GT since day 1. Do we have the option to buy used premiums? No. Another plus for the standard model cars.

- Having the Premium/Standard tab is annoying. As simple and stupid as it may appear, if they had both premiums and standards in the same tab, it would be different. Again, lack of consistency, having the cars split into 2 different groups is bad imho. As you have lot more standard cars, you'll be a lot more often in the standard tab.

I always liked the standards, now with cockpit, improved shaders and some standards been receiving some improvement here and there and with my biggest wish: wheels for standards, they are my favorite cars. Because of the variety, option to buy used, with mileage, damaged engine, etc... having to wait and find that specific model, all this, is important for me and its part from the GT world.

These are my toughts about that. Standards now feel more integrated with the game than premiums. It's not like they are better, its the fact that they feel more integrated to the game roots. (used cars, rarity, etc) Yeah, it got backwards!

And I don't care. Loved the standards since day 1, hated the lack of consistency, but, loved the cars.

There's simply much more choice with Standard cars. I feel that the Premium car selection focuses too much on modern cars and supercars, ironically for "Gran Turismo".

IMO You should add a 3rd option.
I drive anything that doesnt need any tweak (-/+ kilos/bhp) to enter the race.

i can't agree more, at least there should be a tab to see all the cars, or an option how you like your garage.....let alone the benefit/luxury to have multiple favorites, so we could short out all rally cars, all gt500 and so on.

It's nice that standards are getting so much love, from PD and especially the community of GT5.

[Major Changes and New Features]
- Wheels can now be changed on Standard cars
Continuing the improvement of standard cars since the addition of simplified interior views in the 2.00 update, wheels of standard cars can now be changed.
Select the desired wheels for your car in GT Auto,] make your car lighter
and improve the looks.

interesting, standards have actual functional wheels besides just looks as well..

I gotta say since this last update with the wheel change added to the standards Ive been using them much more than the Premiums. One reason is that there are a lot of cool cars that are standards and the rims just added to there looks. I find that the standard cars look better with the rims than alot of the premiums do simply because the standards have the rims flush with the body work giving the car the appropriate stance it should have. That is what we do in RL when we go aftermarket rims.

On a lot of the premiums the wheels are still tucked in the fender so you lose a lot of the visual appeal of going with aftermarket rims. Yes from the side it looks nice but from the front or rear 3/4 view it looks cheesy lol. I love my standard RUF's, M3's, 350z's etc simply because of the aggressive stance they have vs the tucked rim look of there premium counterparts.

Of course we happen to drive standards more as many of us happen to own some of them IRL and many of them are our all-time favourites since their number are 4-1 to the premiums.

YES! standard S15 vs premium S15, no competition when it comes to stance, ...i wish the the premium cars had the standard car's almost flushed look, Poor premium s15 looks like the wheels are brake rotors and with those tiny tires...shame. standard has nice nice fat tires bigger rims and looks awesome.

You should take a look at the wish lists for DLC, people only want all the newest super cars and all that jazz(sure they look awesome and are cool to drive, but something about normal cars tuned up that is just freaking amazing to do). While premiums look impressive, standards are just more appealing to me. I guess it means to me in any case Premiums are just a showcase of what is to come in GT6 and Standards were supposed to be the star of GT5 back in the GT Visions videos 20+ cars on track with full pit crews. Forza jump and GT fans who rather look at competition forced PD to go above and beyond and then we ended up with 80/20 split. Super detailed cars and the best part was the weather and time enabled courses, realistic smoke effects. Would have been great but this will suffice for now, and hope that PD keeps listening to the more intuitive part of the GT community and keep crafting GT5 into a game that we all desired.

I want more everyday cars in my GT5, my garage is 116 premium and 450 or so standards, and most of them have brand new shoes, they look gorgeous. I'm still perturbed that PD didn't distinguish between regional cars and give you rims that fit the cars. My american muscle cars can't wear my Coddington Boyd's, I am thoroughly upset. I haven't even changed those cars' shoes, I hope PD gets more rim styles in there, my muscle needs to show off too.

+1 the stansards is the new standard heheheheehe i agree, ironically they look better with rims than the premiums. on another note is it just me or when you change rims on a standard and do rally racing the rims revert to the originals?

applying dirt/snow tires makes rims smaller, for premium...you get that ugly enkie wheel..

and why standards look better with rims is because there is no tucking in the fender, the wheels sit pretty flush and really flush on alot of other cars (SRT4), on premium the wheels tuck and look terrible, except the C63, PDI 350Z and a few other, it's really evident when you changed wheels on the S15..looks horrid.👎

basically, standard car's have the stance the premium car's should have.

I know with snow/dirt tyres you use a smaller rim...i remember in gt4 you could buy specific sets of wheels for specific purposes, guess i was being wishful for atleast those oz wheels for rallys rather than the stock rims on my celica.Truthfully though i tend to gravitate more to the standards than premiums,i guess the only things that would make the standards even better would be working wipers, highbeams and maybe just a little bit more detail on the interior, dark enough so it doesn't have to be highly detailed but bright enough to recognize the interior.

I'm really surprised standard car's are this popular, thought it would be the other way around usefulness but turned out to be a huge hit.

Hehehehege...

I voted standard and made it 50/50.
Not lying. I don't care if I'm using standard or not. I just use standard most the time because of how many cars are standard compared to premium.

Updates have sure added some more flare to the Standards. I drive them more as many of my favorite rides are in the category. Premiums I enjoy more though, the detail can be truly amazing at times.

The question is: If PD sells a DLC car pack with 100 Standards will you buy it?

But i can agree with all of you, standard cars are the base of this game and the best cars (LMP,LM,GT and DTM in my case) are all standard and i use it quite often.

Being a ( New Cae Dealership) thats all it should sell but there a re few "older" new cars in there, possibly because of the Development time. Maybe the NCD should be better titled and have older cars or even better combim=ne it with OCD so we can buy any car we want whenever we want it.

So do the standards look better with the latest 2.02 update? I bought an Isuzu Piazza XE yesterday and couldn't really tell any difference.....

I don't fool myself. Premiums are the best thing happened to GT. Like someone said it's like car porn.
Simply, the standards are getting more appealing as we go...

Ill say this if the premium cars wheels are adjusted to the flush, aggressive look the standards with new wheels have it would be perfect.

I wont buy a standard DLC pack. Thats lazy money for PD. Id buy a wheel pack before I buy a standard pack. And thats if its at least 20-40 wheels at a small price.

The question is: If PD sells a DLC car pack with 100 Standards will you buy it?

Depends what was in it, but assuming there was a good variety and the price was right i probably would.
I always have used standards alot more then premiums and it's where i always go looking for cars in online rooms, but that is mainly because there is so much more varietty. The level of detail on premium cars can be truly amazing and i would love for every car in the game to eventually be made premium.

I've always prefered standard cars over premiums, just because I've been more accustomed to standard cars based off past experiences from previous sequels.

GT5 kinda throws standards and premiums together pretty clumsily. I'm not too impressed how standards are reprsented as used, high mileage cars and premiums are presented as fresh, unmolested new cars.

For example, you could find a Supra RZ (a relative modern classic sport car) with something like 20,000 miles on it but then you could turn right around and enter the Toyota dealership and find a Supra made the better part of a decade before the RZ with no mileage and 100% chasis rigidity. ???

Another example... Bugatti. Why doesn't Bugatti have a dealership to sell the Veyron? Because its standard? So what? A standard car can't have a new car dealership? I'm sure IRL if anyone was considering buying a Bugatti Veyron they'd most likely have enough money to throw away to buy new. I don't mind a slightly used model for a considerable discount, but I do believe the UCD and OCD both sell the Veyron for 2,000,000cr and once more I've got a Veyron from said entities with 0 miles on it... tell me what used car dealership selling Hondas, Toyotas, Mitsubishis, Subarus, and Nissan is going to offer a Bugatti Veyron - easily one of the most prestigious super cars in the world.

The whole used car thing in general is needless and is just really a pain in the ass grinding mechanism built from a lack of creativity. Offer standard cars in the new car dealership would make things so much more convenient, but NOOOOO we've got to wait some unfathomable amount of time (which could be upto 2 weeks) to find the cars we want to drive, collect, and enjoy.

Just because standard cars aren't the 400,000 polygon premium models of the 21st century doesn't mean they're below them. I'm a pretty sentimental person and when I saw my fictious '00 Z06 in black pop up in the UCD I about broke down thinking about all the hard times and all the high places we've been through in GT4.

But then again, I've always supported the position that PD will eventually drop standard cars all together since they really do look tacked on and are dated as hell. Ultimately premium cars are the way of the future and I think GT6 will have a relatively impressive roster that doesn't need the filler standards provide. And only then will I ever truly embrace the premium car over standards.

Most of my favourite irl cars are standard in GT5 so I find my self using standards a lot. Like the AE86 (all versions), Nissan Sileighty and Nismo 400r/270r. I do use premiums and I love it when I get the chance to use them but with the massive selection of standards I find myself in that section of my garage most of the time.

Fingers crossed for GT6 We'll see around 400-500 cars ALL premium. I mean it's nice that people can have their own cars in GT5 but a Corsa Comfort? Really PD? Cut the fat and the 10 variations of the same car you have and you MIGHT have time to make all the cars premium.

I'm driving mostly standards because they are the more interesting cars in the game!

I agree with this statement. My favourite road cars and racing cars in real life, are modeled as standards in GT5.

i agree with you bro... Stance as always been a problem in granturismo and now the standard cars have fixed that some how
