I read lots of complaints from people who have subscribed for a longer period of time that feel left out because there's all these incentives for new/F2P players, but I can understand why EA/Bioware do it like that. Basically, it's the same for any subscription service: new members get all the goodies, existing members get nothing. But so far, there's no real pay to win stuff in the cartel market.

I gave it a try for 5mins when the F2P came out but got annoyed that they had made me change my character name since I'd last logged on there, that was enough to just make me stay away. The reason I stopped in the first place was because even around launch there just werent enough people around to do stuff, I felt like I had nothing worth doing. I had leveled up my crafting to max to find that the very expensive crafting items weren't really worth it.

Finding a group for a 5 man was a nightmare, and past the leveling experience it just didnt seem worth playing any more, as an MMO it will always be in the shadow of World Of Warcraft which by all accounts as an MMO is a much better game. If SWTOR had been SW KOTOR 3 and more of a single player game it would have been incredible but as an MMO it launched so out of date compared to the competition (WoW/Rift) and had compromised on so much in order to be an MMO.

I kind of want to go back to try my Trooper again, as I was enjoying leveling him. But from what I'm told I get extra slow experience gains from playing in the free to play model, which is really what has held me off.

I haven't tried the F2P, so can't comment on how that plays as opposed to subscription. Got my copy with a 30-day subscription, which, from the looks of it, I intend to extend. 👍

F2P has so many restrictions imposed on it you shouldn't even bother. The only real way to play TOR is with a subscription, because then you can actually, like... play the game.

Hey, anyone else still playing this? I recently started playing again and IMHO, the updates have improved the game quite bit.

Yes and no. Busy trying to get to level 60 in Neverwinter so TOR's been sitting there for about a month, but I plan on putting these three double XP weekends to good use - I have some low-level characters I want to power level :)

Yep, I still play on a regular basis. Have a level 55 Sniper and a level 46 Commando on The Red Eclipse. And there are more updates incoming in the upcoming few monts. 👍

The Force has brought this thread back from the dead. :D Anyway, I cancelled my subscription a few months ago because I didn't have time to play anymore. Installed the game again last week, and damn' have EA/BioWare been busy the past few months: revamped PvP, new planets, space combat PvP simulator, very cool stuff indeed! 👍 Anyone else still playing?

I played it a good while back ( 6 months or so) with a friend, we had a total blast for a few nights of playing and then he went on holidays and I got completely bored on my own, stopped playing. I think it's an excellent co-op game as that allows you to do dungeons and heroic zones (we 2manned everything, was challenging but very fun), but its not so good as a single player.

I also played it at closed beta/pre launch and got to 50 on my Jedi, liked some of the main quests but found the game a bit tedious, at max level I felt I had nothing left to do. Have been considering going back for another try but wanted to try out this Elder Scrolls Online beta. Can't say I enjoy that too much, i'd have bought it if it was a buy to play like Guild Wars 2, but not for a subscription.

I'm on the shelf about re-subbing to SWTOR, it's a good game with friends and they have done a lot to fix it from what I'm told.

Agreed, co-op is what makes this game. The new starship PvP is cool too BTW. 👍 What you can always do is just give it a go as preferred player (ex-sub), see if you like it and then whack on a month or so. That's what I did. I'm also not the gear-grinding type, I only play SM Ops and HM FPs, and my gear is more than enough for that, so I just enjoy walking around, helping other players, etc. Running all the dailies every day makes me feel like a hamster in a wheel, so I steer clear of that. :D So it sort of comes in waves for me, I'll probably play for another month or so, let the sub run out, and then play some more a few months from now.
