So I've been playing GT5 steadily since last Nov. Recently my PS3 died and I got a new one (I can stop anytime I want!). I have a GT5 backup from a month or two ago.

If this happened to *you* - would you start over or restore from a month+ back?

Terrible thought, to have to go a month back. The last backup for my alt is from this morning, for my main from about a week ago (not much happening there anymore). If my PS3 were to die, I'd most definitely continue from where I was at. If I want to start new, I create (yet) another account.

Kinda depends on what was achieved. If it's full of either bone hard or boring stuff you don't want to do again, or you had a massive car collection then it has to be the backup.

Fortunately, starting over isn't as bad as it could be with all the seasonals paying so well. I started again with another account and quickly levelled up to 30 in a weekend. Can't be bothered with all the B spec tho, so all those great prize cars have to be bought.

I voted for "Restore" due to the fact that I've had to restart four times:grumpy:

And I know how annoying that can be, but that's just my opinion.

I had achieved level 40 A-spec about 2 weeks before the triple pay-outs began and then a month after that the system crashed. 5-6 months playing time down the drain...So sad!...Naw.
I started from scratch and,due to illness and way too much time on my hands,I managed to go from 0 to 40 A-spec again in only 22 days real time. I was whipping down the French countryside in a 458 Italia in only my 3rd race back(post-virtual armagedon) winning 504,000 C. each time...I actually could have reached the Level 40 milestone much faster had I not indulged in so much A-spec non-seasonal racing...
It's so easy to get back to where you were now that I wouldn't hesitate to do it all again...I still race without that safety net called "Save on USB"...
Take a walk on the wild side and start again!...👍

Restore...

I don't have the patience to wait "n" months for another green FTO STC to appear in the UCD... as well as many other cars...

:)

Restore your main account and create a new account to start over with, as some have suggested already. 👍

I created a new account to dupe items, and by just doing the Seasonals alone, I'm at Level 31 and have not run one A-spec race yet.

I voted Restore, but I really want a pony. ;)

I am going to start over and see what I think. Anyway as you folks point out I can do both!

Thanks for the comments.

Now to just figure out what year I was born... :)

Funny you say that. First time around I put in my real birthday but I made a mistake and put 1967 (it should have been 1968). I got the 2D - I had never known about the car and thought the 3 speed was weird. After reading about Chaparral I was pretty pleased though.

This time I put 1970 for the 2J and had to laugh when I saw it in the OCD lol.

What car were you thinking about for 1967?

My experience:
I got the game in late January. I played it for not even 2 weeks untill I got RA menu bug (I was a newbie back then, I always used TCS) so I started over on a new PSN.
And here I am now 8 months later, with a Platinum trophy under my belt looking back and thinking that was a great idea (to start over).
If you didn't have much (much as in 1000+ game days) - start over,
If you had much - restore.

Starting fresh is a great thing. 👍

The 1967 Ticket is far and away the best of the birthday tickets, in my opinion, due to the cars that can be acquired with it. 👍

1967 (10 cars)
Chaparral 2D Race Car '67
Ferrari 330 P4 Race Car '67
Ford Mark IV Race Car '67
Honda N360 '67
Lamborghini Miura P400 Bertone Prototype CN.0706 '67
Mazda 110S (L10A) '67
Mazda Cosmo Sport (L10A) '67
Mercury Cougar XR-7 '67
Nissan SKYLINE 2000GT-B (S54A) '67
Toyota 2000GT '67

Of course, the latest OCD gives you the 2D at a lowered price at the moment, but I have a saying in GT, "If it's free, it's for me."

So, duping '67 tickets to get all of the high-priced cars on that list, is the way I went.

That is a pretty convincing list... oh well :)

I'd restore, only because my ps3 died and I didn't have a backup. With the seasonals it didn't take long to get back to roughly where I was, but every now and then I still look in my garage for a car I used to own. :(

I have a question. I have my PS3 and the blue ray player died, but everything else on the PS3 works. I am getting a new one here in about a week.

I have close to 1386 days, over 850 cars, every course golded except for 2 vettel challanges, so I really, really do not want to start over. Plus I already started over once because of the hack and Sony could not restore my account.

I have the playstation plus and have backed my games online.

My first question is when I get a new PS3, can I upload my current GT5 information through a USB card or is it locked, do I have to download my Playstation Plus online saved info to my new PS3?

I would like to keep my current broken blue ray player PS3 for downloading online games. I would also like to have the same account linked with my new PS3 player so I can play disc games and download dlc for the disc games. Can I have two PS3's with the same accounts and download games for one PS3 and other things for the other PS3?

I don't want to start a new account because then I would have to pay twice for playstation plus. Also, I want to link all of my trophies to one account and not have one account for online games and the other for disc games.

I hope this makes sense. I am not very good with computer stuff. Any help is really appreciated!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your help!
