Hey guys, I'm new to the Gran Turismo series and I'm gonna be starting GT5 in a little while. I was wondering, what would be a good starting car? My brother said I should purchase the '97 Honda Civic Type R (EK) like he did. Is that a smart choice? Thanks for your help. :)

Get whatever you like the look of. If you collect trophys buy the premium MX5 for 19,000cr. and add a 1000cr. upgrade to get the penniless trophy (easier now than later).
But whatever you buy won't really have a bearing on how you progress through the game as almost any car can win the Sunday Cup and within a few days you will be in some exotic Italian supercar:)

Welcome to GT5 and GTP:tup:

pick what ever car i started with a roadster it was good when i started about a week and a half ago

Welcome to the GT Series! If I may give the best piece of advice: Do the licences and work on Gold for all of them. Not only will you gain XP, you gain money, and you gain "how to drive" on this game. I'm sure you'll be a better driver, it's where I (and possibly most of us) improved. The big bonus, you gain free cars for gold, silver, and bronze! (if you want to know which ones go to the prize car thread) Then move on to the Special Events, at the start no car is needed. I do agree with the MX5 move. You can upgrade it, and then eventually use it on the Seasonal Event for huge cash and XP.

Thanks everyone, I think I will try the MX5. And yes, I'll be sure to Gold the beginning licenses at first so I learn to drive. 👍

With the MX-5 you can get about 450,000cr/race with the seasonals. Great for a start, lots of xp too.

Before you do the seasonals try to just play the game as it's already very short and the seasonals make it so much shorter. IMO the very beginning is the most fun so try to enjoy it because it doesn't last long

Hey guys! I just started today and purchased my MX5. Really cool car! Love the way it handles. My brother told me I was driving well, so that's good. I went and tried the Seasonal Event and I finished in 9th place! I still made about 160,000 cr but I really wanted the grand prize! When I first entered, it said the opponents would be between 381-392 PP, or something like that... What does that mean? Thanks everyone.

It is worth noting that the MX5 will also compete in the compact seasonal. Competition is a little slower in that one but upgrade your car and you shouldn't break sweat with either of the new seasonals.

Yes, listen to your brother.

Edit: Or you can use the MX-5. :)

I personally don't like Civics, but it is a good choice for a start. Or, if you wnna go about it the easy/cheap way I can send you a modded Ferrari 599 for you to run the La Sarthe Ferrari event and win enough money to do what ever you want. When I made my second account I wound up at level 20 with in an hour just by using the 599 I traded from my original.

I think I chose an MR2 Spyder or something along those lines.

It worked very well for the first couple races but as you go, you will be buying a lot more cars to either compete in events or to make your "main" car for unrestricted races.

Do what i did. Buy any old car, do lots of licenss testing to earn cash and xp etc until you get bored. Go and do loads of special events (where a car is provided :p) then buy your first proper car :p mine was a vanquish which i still have and is still incpmpletely tuned, just as i left it :)

No don't copy your brother!Get a MX-5 from Dealership,well that's what I did.

Good idea! An mx5 can get you a long way and it will win you one of the most awesome cars in the game: the Mazda furai!!

The only issue is that you need to buy your car before being able to do anything, including licences:yuck:

I agree on the MX-5, though:tup:

MX-5... That's probably because that was my first car in GT3 tho lol but still its good cause you've still got cash to tune it up.

Haha, I'm happy I made that decision! And yeah, I'm really enjoying that car. I haven't been on in a few days because I've been on vacation, but I just got back and I'm ready to play. 👍
