Practical as long as you don't need a back seat.

The only MINI with a useable back seat is the Countryman, and at that size, while it's still not big, it's not quite a MINI anymore.

I do have a fascination for the old JCWs with the rear strut brace in place of the useless back seat... but there are many cars that are far more practical in the same size range for a lot less money.

Ah, you mean the MINI Cooper John Cooper Works Works GP? Rolls off the tongue nicely, that one

Lovely car. Even with the ridiculous red side mirrors. Local guy owns chassis number 1007. :D Don't see him ever selling it.

See if you can get a nice used Pontiac G8 GT. Also take a peek at an E63 wagon. I don't know how much they run, but they're good.

Audi S4 either the 2.7 or the V8 depending on the milage acceptable.
Awesome built quality, fast, lot of options were stock,...
And due to torsen quattro, awesome grip . Always.
And you can have them in avant to. So very practical car if you don't want the limousine.

I am looking to for a car around that bracket, was also eyeing the S4, but as I own an S3 (which I keep) I will probably go buy an GTR33.

This section of cars is absolutely flooded with great buys. Really, it'll be hard to buy a car that you won't fall in love with.
