Stealth Patching and Deleted Savegames ?? !!!

Why are they not telling us what is addressed in each patch ? Embarassment ? After all there were a myriad of patches to GT5 and it was clear that the game was very, very broken. Some say: Beta !

I've counted 3 or 4 updates now, although it still says it's at 1.01 - Yeah, right !

Morover, the latest stealth update, deletes your gamesave and will only read the back up save - so you lose a couple of days of game play.

What IS going on ?
 
Not everyones save is getting deleted, mine is perfectly fine. If you would care to relate the conditions that prompted the loss of your game save, we might be able to get a picture of what is actually going on. 👍

Mine is also fine and I update when I log on every time.
 
Well it seems to be buggy.

A lot of peeps ae saying their saves are being corrupted.

It refused to load my savegame, still the same when I replaced it with a backup I made to USB, but for some inexplicable reason,, it was happy to load the official backup save.

Still kept all my cars, but lost a couple of hours of progress.
 
When ever you update from 1.00 to 1.01 and when you will update from 1.01 to 1.02 and so forth you get a prompt that it may corrupt save game data and it says it is making a back up.
 
It does not make a backup.

It simply states that the update "may" corrupt" your game. Covering their a@@es ?

Still wierd why it wouldn't read my USB-backed up version though.
 
There is a backup save. But it is made so close to the "current" save it is probably worthless most of the time.
 
I would hazard a guess that those who 'bought and sold' GT Vision cars may suffer the most from lost game progress. I believe this will happen due to the introduction of micro-transactions. Before we would just get a patch and move on, but now Polyphony need to make it fair for anybody who purchased any credits?

My internet is pathetic, and yet these updates take seconds. Never given them much thought.
 
The [XMB] "back up" is (and has always been) created when you log into the game. It based on your progress from the last time you played. My current [XMB] "back up" was created about 2 and a half hours ago. When I'm done racing, I'll upload my ACTUAL data to Plus or USB.

That can't always be the case. Several times I've checked, the two gamesaves have been about 5 to 10 minutes apart. And I don't log in and out of the game that often.

Yes, no problem. Maybe people should explore the possibilities introduced by a "DLC" car that costs nearly 90% less than the AMG, too. ;)

I've updated everytime there was an update and my save is fine. I think you may be spreading false information with your statement here Morover, the latest stealth update, deletes your gamesave and will only read the back up save - so you lose a couple of days of game play. as it only seems to have happened to you. You are making it sound like it is a definite thing that will/has happened to everyone when, in fact, that is not the case.

This is not new to gaming, Naughty Dog did it with Uncharted. They modify things server-side so you don't have to download tiny updates for minor things. For instance with Uncharted it was used to balance weapons and stuff. No need to tell people in patch notes because it was done on their end not yours. Nothing is going on.
