I'm in need of some advice from you guys.

I really enjoy playing gt5 and I'm now thinking that i might enjoy it more with a Wheel. So I looked some up and was shocked when i saw the price of them.

So my questions now are:
The wheels I've seen are from about 50€ to about 450€ (70-550$), for what price do you get a decent wheel?
Which wheel would you recommend?
If you own one, can you give some comments on the quality or problems you have with that wheel?

Thanks in advance for the advice

If you are on a budget then the Logitech Driving Force GT is a decent choice.
If you want to spend a bit more the G27 or the Fanatec GT3RS V2
If you have an Xbox and play racing games there as well then the Fanatec PWTS is the way to go though it is the most expensive of the lot.

I have the DFGT and the PWTS. The DFGT is a good wheel for the money and I would not go any cheaper that this one if it were me. If works fine, a little noisy at times due to the gear drive but not to bad. Decent force feedback and a good size. Cheap pedals but they work fine.

The G27 is better quality with a different type of gear so it is quieter and has much nicer pedals including a clutch which the DFGT does not have but is not as well supported in game for button mapping.

The PWTS is the bomb. Quiet belt drive. Very strong force feedback. all the buttons can be mapped in game. Standard pedals are not as nice as the club sports but still pretty good and include a clutch. The brake has a nice strong spring on it so it feels more like the real deal where as the DFGT has very little resistance on the brake.

Overall it is hard to beat the PWTS especially if you also play xbox 360 but it does have a big price tag at more than double that of the DFGT.
The GT3RS is basically the same wheel as the PWTS but without the xbox support and about $100 cheaper.

I have a G27 and the clutch does work in the game! When u start the race just start using the clutch no need to map it. Dumb that GT5 doesn't have a button mapping section for G27s

Hey Roadhog, nice write up man, thanks. I have a question, this may seem like a weird one to most.

. . .but is there or are there wheels that have buttons you can actually use for gas and brake that are on the actual wheel? Instead of having to use the pedals? Having a broken foot is no fun.

I bought the cheapest logitech wheel originally for GTP and it was awful, ended up returning it... Finally bought the DFGT for $130USD before GT5 (used it for F1 2010 and NFS Shift) and I love it. There's an adjustment period but if you use a good wheel, whatever one you choose it will be impossible to ever play driving games again with a controller...

You can map any of the buttons on the DFGT and the Porsche Wheels to do pretty much whatever your want. So yes you can map these to have the throttle and brake on the wheel wherever you see fit.

So let's see if Santa is going to place a DFGT under the tree

Thanks anyway for the advice.
You guys got any idea how best to place it? I don't really want to put a table in front of the tv to put the wheel on it.

Any recommendations are welcome.

I built a mount for mine but at first I just attached it to my keyboard tray which was not to bad until I got carried away and either pulled it toward me or pushed it away.
