Is the regular (cheaper) logitech wheel worth buying? I can't afford the pro wheel. This is my first post,, thanks.

Don't buy it. It just plan out sucks. I barly could even touch a race car with it. Its just the fact, it justs messes up you're gamr experiance.

Buy the Logitech Driving force pro, you'll be much better off.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I just bought the ps2 when it finally got down to $150. And I got GT3 for $6 (Rhino Games). Maybe I can find the Pro wheel one day for cheap, hopefully. I'm 98% through with the game (ahh wonderful action replay max,,, I don't have enough time to do it any other way). So I guess now I have to get golds in the arcade time trial, but those are pretty hard,, I'll get it done sometime though.

I own the Logitech Driving Force wheel, not the Pro one, and I love it. It's not as good as the Pro. But it does it's job excellently. It's definatly worth buying if you can't afford the Pro.

I've got the Force Feedback wheel (again Logitec) and have no complaints, generaly getting far better laptime with it than with a DS2.

Also find the button placement better on the Force Feedback model than the orginal Driving Force wheel which I used to have (got broken when I moved house).

Well, that and the fact that the Logitech Driving Force Pro has a switchable 270 degree/900 degree mode, and every other wheel on Earth only goes 270 degrees at best.

Depends on your definition of "better". At a recent iLink I was "better" than many drivers, where they were on wheels, but I was on DS2 - although I don't think I was the best driver there in terms of skill.

The Driving Force is the best budget wheel. The Logitech Momo (red plastics, leather wheel) is a better wheel, but the DFP is the best - use it on GT4P and I'm assured you'll notice the difference...

It'll take you a while to get used to the wheel, but eventually, in theory, you'll be quicker.

Now might be a good time to get used to "a" wheel, as I suspect GT4 will offer much more to wheel users than DS2 users. GT4P's rally sections in particular are very, very tricky with a DS2.

You can get the good one off of ebay for 75 bucks shipped. They are refurbished but mine has worked perfectly since I got it. I highly recommend it, it is amazing how much fun the game got once I bought it. Takes a lot of time to get used to but once you do, wow!

well, the Driving Force Pro is the best Wheel, but the good old Logitech GT-Force or the PC-Version Formula Force GP are nice & cheap 👍

In 200° Modus & GT4P the new Driving Force Pro is worse than GT-Force 👎

I Like the GT Force further on

the logitech driving force is a high quality wheel, but it only turns 180 degrees. while the pro can turn up to 900 degrees. I currently have the non pro becausei could not afford the pro. But you might as well buy the nonpro untill you can afford the pro. Drifting is 10X better w/ a wheel.

I've always been a DS2 player, but I got a really cheap wheel that's compatible with PS2 and PC, just so I could use it for a few different racing games that I have on both platforms.. Only problem is, it's actually NOT compatible with PS2, only with PS1. Result: Digital Accelerator. *shudder* Although it feels analogue, in reality it's 0 until you press it halfway in, at which point it goes to full throttle. So it's totally useless for GT3... Although it's a lot of fun for NFSU every now and then when I don't want to concentrate on actually driving.

The GT force's buttons look to be in the best place, but that's all it has over the Pro, $50 ain't bad for something that quality either.

By the way - listen to what Werner Winkels says. He may speak a strange, foreign language but he's THE man on wheels.

He takes them apart and makes them better. His website is full of Logitech wiring diagrams.
