Is it true that only one steering wheel works on GT3 which is the logitec one? I have a mad catz one but it dosent work but it works on 1 and 2.....I recon they should just let any wheel work.....it saves buying a new one

Im not sure, ive heard of the GT Force, which is specifically for gran turismo 3 and it has the GT logo in the center. i think there is this other wheel that goes in the usb port that works with gt3 but im not sure what. and.. the GT Force wheel works with a few other games i think this one F1 game and like simpsons road rage. there are more but i forget the site that said what was compatible.

There are three 'official' wheels for the PS2:
- the Speedster 2, which hooks up through the DS2 controller port
- the GT Force, which is the original GT Logitech wheel (basically a Logitech Wingman Formula Force with blue trim rather than red). This runs through the USB port
- the Driving Force, which is the GT Force with PS2 controllers in the face of the wheel. Again, this connects via the USB

I have both the Speedster 2 and the GT Force - the Speedster 2 is quite configurable for PS One games and works with a few PS2 games - it's okay, but I preferred my old Madcatz wheel I had for 4 years or so (and donated to my older half-brother for my nephews). Ridge Racer V (or whatever the PS2 one was) was compatible with it, but none of the other PS2 games have been.

The GT Force, though - I'm really pleased with mine. I had the ol' drop out issue with it (much better now it has its own power point) but no other problems - plus I use it on the PC.

There have been issues reported on the Driving Force wheel, specifically being unable to change gears when the wheel is at the extremes of lock. Dunno about PC compatibility for the Driving Force.

Yes, but no analogue pedals - you might be able to jury rig them, though. The Speedster 2 basically impersonates the analogue mode of the DS2.

never underestimate the Radio Shack accessories.
they make better stuff than is concensus view.

R_34 King, if you are thinking about buying a Logitech Wheel, I will recommend that you get the red PC version.
Where I live it is a lot cheaper than any of the blue PS2 ones, and it works perfectly.

I concur - the red PC version (the Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP) was the basis of the blue GT Force wheel (the one without the PS2 controls on the hub) - and when I say basis, I mean it's the same wheel, but the PS2 version is blue (which I have) and the PC version is red.

Hello, bbathala, and welcome to GTPlanet!

I wish I could give you a specific answer, but I can't. The wheel will probably function, since the Logitech USB wheels seem to. However, I seriously doubt the programmable buttons will be programmable, since that is probably handled by software rather than in the wheel.

I'd also like to thank you very much for searching for your answer before posting a new thread.

it will work fine with your PS2, no worries 👍

I was looking for a thread like this to pop up - Will the Logitec Driving Force (GT3 wheel, non-pro) work with the PC? I d/l'ed a demo of GTR and i need a wheel. I can't get a good joystic or keyboard cofiguration. I don't want to dish out $150 on "the" wheel. Will it work?

I'm going to bring this back from the dead, but I kinda need a quic response. I saw that wheel in the shops today, is it exactly the same as the GT Force? And does it work with the same games (GT3, GTC, GT4:P?), because for £40 it seems like a good investment.

The Driving Force will work on the PC - just go to the Logitech website and download the Wingman software.

Race Idiot - if the wheel is the Wingman Formula Force (and it will be quite old - they stopped making them 3 or 4 years ago) it will work with the PS2 and GT3 - the PS2 will read it as a GT Force.

It was a Formula Force GP, one was red and they had identical ones with yellow trims. Oddly enough I managed to buy a Driving Force which seems to work grea, i've had no problems with the pedals or the shifters not working at full lock. It was only £40 and it's awesome, I didn't fancy shelling out for the DFP but i'm still impressed with this wheel. Now if only I didn't suck at driving so much. :dunce:
