Im looking for a good steering wheel, ive heard Logitech G27 is good, but G25 is much better. Sadly, the G25 isnt on the market anymore.. People also told me about a Trustmaster T500RS or something, which would be the best of them all. Please let me know, which steering wheel is the best for GT5 :)

You're probably best of checking in the Sim Racing Hardware section of the forums.

But to help you out as much as I can, it seems that all wheels have pros and cons. I have a G27 myself (I haven't read anything that says that the G25 was better though, the G27 is a newer version of the G25, not many huge differences between the 2). Before getting my G27 I read a lot, A LOT, of wheel reviews. From what I've gathered the G27 is the best wheel you can get in it's price range. The DFGT is the best wheel you can get in the entry level range.

Other wheel that are better than the G27, and there are many, tend to have the same con, and that's price. So basically it depends on what you want, and how much you're willing to spend. I forget which wheels are compatible with both Xbox 360 and ps3/pc but I do know that if that's important to you you're options are limited.

Again, check in the Sim Racing Hardware section as well as just looking up wheel reviews on google. There is an insane amount of information available and unfortunately there's no possible way for a person to tell you (accurately) which wheel is best for you with the information given.

Also don't forget to factor in some kind of wheelstand/cockpit into your budget, they can easily be very low cost (especially if you're able to build it yourself) or they could be far more expensive than whatever wheel you purchase. I have an Obutto cockpit ~$450 USD, got my G27 during a 50% off sale on logitech's website for $150 later got the Nixim Mod (stiffer springs for the pedals) for ~$30. So as you can see my wheel stand was the most expensive thing I purchased by far and the Obutto is considered a semi-lower budget cockpit.

Edited my first post with some more info. I haven't heard of the DFGT being very noisy. Most noise i've heard is from wheels with belt driven force feedback. Logitech wheels, among others, are gear driven.

I have a DFGT, and it's a perfectly good wheel at a very reasonable price.

I know abou that and also calculated that in the price ;) thanks though

The G-27 uses helical cut gears which are quieter that the spur cut gears on the DFGT. I have the DFGT and do not find it to be overly noisy, it is a great wheel for the money.

Yeah they're both great wheels. Only ones i really hear over chat is when someone is using a belt driven wheel. Not that it's overly loud or annoying to me, but you can definitely hear it. Not sure how loud they are when you're actually the one using them though.

So is the G27 I hear. It's only really noisy is you fling it around.

Um big fat no on that one!!! When my wife makes mention that she can now read a book on the couch while I'm playing should speak volumes. Now I just annoy her with the gated shifter;) lol

If you have the money. Spend it on the G27. I had the DFGT and it was great until it blew up. I had to step my game up. The wheel will really help your driving and make the game more fun. Mastering heel/toeing is another subject lol

DFGT!!!!

Really depends on your budget. DFGT is best for a low budget wheel and works perfectly and can take a lot of abuse.

I bought a g27 last week and love it. I was worried that the DFGT wouldn't last. I don't know if you can invert the pedals on the cheaper one but you can on the g27. If its in your budget then it's a no-brainier.

If you can afford the g27 over the DFGT, get the g27.

you get a better motor and helical gears, pedals that are much better and you can reverse mount. You get a much better feeling shifter with H pattern shifting and not just up and down shift, the paddleshifters on the g27 are much better.

It is definitely worth the money.

I highly recomend you build an extremely rigid rig to mount your wheel and shifter.

If you use some cheap wobbly set, it will take a lot away from your experience.

I recommend building the wood rig from insidesimracing, i use that and it is amazing.

cost me about 25 bucks in wood and i got a 25 dollar seat from a car salvage yard.

My advice is to spend some time and look over the T500RS thread. My own personal experience having switched from G25 to the T500RS is that the latter is a much better wheel in every respect. There are disadvantages- the fact that you have to spend extra for a stick shifter but in the end you're getting a much better h-gated shifter than the G27's. Although you can use different rims on the Logitech wheels, it's not as easily as you could with the T500RS. It's (the T500RS) a bit more expensive but if you planning to spend a lot of time in racing sim/games, it's worthy investment.

I personally think the Fanatec CSR Elite is the best wheel out there including for GT 5. It's expensive, $560 with shipping but IMO well worth it. If that is too much, the Fanatec CSR is also excellent, $220 with shipping. Both wheels work with Xbox, PS3 and PC.
