Guys, I've got a problem with my Driving Force Pro which is starting to worsen. Specifically, what happens is that after a random number of presses, the brake pedal, whilst physically return to the top of its travel, is still on in the game (i.e. reading as on by the PS2).

I thought it might be a physical problem, but if I pull the plug for the pedals out of the base of the wheel and replace it, it usually (9 times out of 10) temporarily fixes the problem.

I can get around it on the PC, as I can calibrate the pedals so that it isn't an issue, but I can't do that on GT4-P, so every now and then I'll try to accelerate and the car won't move, or the acceleration is very slow, as the brakes are 1/3rd on.

Any thoughts on what this might be?

dunno if its related but, i have FFXI and i have a keyboard for ut USB and sometimes on FFXI the keyboard goes crazy and gets stuck on a key, or it just stops responding and ill unplug it and it usallty does fi the problem but not for long

No, the PAL version, and it's definitely not the software. The problem occurs on both the PC and the PS2.

Interesting - I did a search but missed that - thanks Eagle. I'm a little reluctant to open the pedals up, given that the wheel is still under warranty (and have you seen how many screws are in the base of those things?!).

Interesting that their problem involved the brakes not coming fully on, so it's almost the exact reverse of my problem.

Also, as I mentioned, I can replicate the problem on the PC and the PS2, so it's not the PS2 that's the problem. I'm pretty confident it's the potentiometer ("pot") in the pedal based - I wish Logitech would use optical sensors in their pedals.

Ironically enough I found that searching on Google for your problem. I also managed to skip over the PC PS2 connection there - the keyboard problem distracted me.

I know this problem, check here for description and solution: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43686

EDIT: and vat_man don't worry, just those 9 screws ... :D

Of course warrenty is a good alternative, and thanks to Logitech's generous policy, most stores should allow you to change for another one in the store without hassle. But in case you lost the receipt, you ordered online, don't live close to the store you bought, or the store happens to be closed or whatever, it's easy to fix yourself and this fix also prevents it from happening in the future. It's also good to know that it's easily fixed and that most parts in the pedal base are easily replaced.

Cheers, Arwin - I replied to your other thread. I'll check it out tomorrow, take some photos and post them for the board.
