Still cannot get the G25 to work properly.

Guys,

I've rigged up the wheel and gear shifter. The buttons on the shifter seem to work ok. I then pushed the gear knob down and rotated the dial to sequential mode. For some reason, the paddles still do not work.

In the game options there is no G25 listed so I tried one of the pro wheel settings but there's still no paddle action. Could someone give me a walkthrough of how I can get the paddles to work?

BTW: do the two red buttons on the wheel do anything? They don't seem to have any effect so maybe their inactivity is related to the paddle problem I'm having? Should I have everything wired up before I switch the PS3 on?

There's no problem steering.

Thanks in advance. Peter.

Edit: I noticed that one of the red buttons on the wheel changed the camera view from the car so the wheel is doing something other than steering. Thought I'd mention it.

I'm moving your thread to our Steering Wheels and Racing Cockpits forum.

Jordan moved your thread, but now I have no idea what game you're playing. :)

The G25 should be set to "DFP or DFGT" if you're playing GT5: P. The paddles should "just work" in sequential mode.

Do you have force feedback?

I upgraded from the DFGT to the G25 but I selected I believe DFP #1 and then edited the buttons. I think the OP has selected the wheel but has not went and edited the paddle shifters for shift up/down respectively. Hope this helps.👍

Here is a link (just below) that shows the button config for GT5P (See Post #6): https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=113197

Jordan, my apologies for posting in the other forum. Thanks for moving it to the correct place.

All:

Is it related to what controller I use when I switch the PS3 on? I also have another race game (Race Driver Grid) and I found something that might explain my problem in GT5 although I've not tried it in GT5 yet. I usually login using the 6-axis controller and I use it to navigate through the PS3 and launch the game. That too failed to enable the G25. As an experiment, I switched off the PS3. Instead of using the 6-axis controller (it was not switched on) I used the G25 shifter buttons to navigate through the PS3.

What I noticed was that I now had the G25 enabled and I could shift up and down with the paddles. I'll only try this tomorrow sometime but I wonder if it's the presence of the 6-axis controller that's causing my problem in GT5. That is, providing I don't use it and only use the buttons on the shifter GT5 might respond? Does that sound plausible compared to the way you use your G25 wheels?

That is, if I use the 6-axis controller first it takes precendence over the G25?

I'll report back tomorrow with my findings but I'll check for additional replies before I try it so I'd appreciate any comments you might have.

Peter.

If you turn on the PS3 via your sixaxis controller then it will come up as the first controller, and the G25 being plugged in via USB will fall in as the second controller. Be sure to turn off the sixaxis before starting the game by holding down the PS button and under controller settings set it to 2 or just turn it off. You can use the buttons on the G25 to navigate the XMB and launch the game the same as the sixaxis.

I've never had a problem plugging in my G25 whenever I felt like it and have it just work in GT5: P. NFS: ProStreet was less forgiving though: the moment I pushed a Sixaxis button, the game would forget I had a G25 plugged in.

I have three controllers that vie for a controller ID: a Sixaxis, a DualShock 3, and a Rock Band Stratocaster.
