Items replaced:
2 Hard Drives
2 SATA cables
1 Motherboard (but ASUS said there was nothing wrong with it)

And it still won't work.

Everytime I boot up, it gets to the Raid controller screen and says press Ctrl+S or F4 to get to RAID settings. I press F4. It says "no devices selected, utility disabled. press any key to continue." My computer doesn't boot. It can boot from a CD via windows CD, but it says it can't find any hard drives. I tried booting with 1 hard drive, still nothing. What else could possibly be wrong??? Is it something with the power supply or cables? All the other devices seem to work and have power... Could it possibly be the Molex -> SATA power adapter?

Hmm. It's either power (but you could check that pretty easily, and I'm surprised you haven't already.

Otherwise there's some tricky BIOS setting. Don't forget that you will need to use the RAID driver floppy disk supplied with the motherboard when you're installing Windows XP, otherwise it won't find the array. Caused me a bit of a problem when I was building my S-ATA RAID PC, because it didn't actually have a floppy drive...

Just a couple more things you can check. Also, verify that the mother board supports booting from the raid. Most do, but not all of them. Also verify your boot order and boot devices in your bios.

Well, the CMOS was reset when I RMA'd the motherboard, so all the settings are default, and when I first built this computer, I had one SATA drive, and it was deteced without a problem after POST and when I hit F6 during the installation of Windows, I supplied the drivers and it installed Windows. Now, when I feed Windows the dirvers, it still says it can't find any HDDs.

GG: How can I test the power? I don't have another 4pin -> 15 pin adapter...

Okay, here's an update. I just plugged both drives in RAID 1 and 2 and it does not power up at all. Does this show that it is a power probelm? Is it just the 4pin > 15pin SATA power adapter, or is it the power supply itself?

Take each drive out in turn and hold it! You will be able to feel/hear the drive spin up when you power the system on. Be careful when you put the drive back down, although most HDs auto-park the heads relatively quickly these days.

Oh, I tried that ages ago, and I just did it again. Both drives spin up fine, and they always have. Although, this time around, when both drives were plugged in, the system did power on, unlike last time, which is very odd... My dad and I are going to check the continuity of the power adapter in a few, and then I am going to see if I can find a place nearby that has more of them.

I've officially tried everything/ I reset the CMOS, as tech support said to do, and I've tried a different Power Supply (but it wont turn on, even with the old PSU) and the guy said that I'd have to snd it in again if resetting the CMOS doesn't work, so looks like it will be another 2 weeks for me. 🤬

I made sure it was enabled. It's too late, though. I've sent back my motherboard again. They had better fix it! Looks like it will be another 3 weeks.
