This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #35:

Beginners' Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Eifel CM - 400 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Matterhorn Dristelen - 500 PP - SH
Expert Level Racing Car Challenge: Indianapolis Road Course - 600 PP - RH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Best Lap - Total Time - Car - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight - Rabbit - Rabbit Total Time

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then total time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on total time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best total time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

400PP at Eifel CM:
373PP
- 1:25.293 - 4:43.006 - Toyota 2000GT '67 - CS - FR - 153hp - 1120kg - 206RC '03 - 4:43.692

500PP at Matterhorn Dristelen:
486PP
- 1:11.796 - 5:34.020 - Shelby Series One Super Charged '03 - SH - FR - 319hp - 1202kg - F40 '92 - 5:34.59

I suspect there are slower rabbits than the Ferrari F40.

600PP at Indianapolis Road Course:
581PP
- 1:29.472 - 8:02.171 - Jaguar XJ13 Chrome Line - RH - MR - 521hp - 975kg - Zonda LM Race Car - 8:02.916

This race was very close. I had to draft past the rabbit just before the finish line. I did so in two races. The lineup is important in that you need to have the right opponents spaced out well for drafting in the long straight.

400 PP at Eifel

328 PP Honda Jazz 1.4 DSi SE Sport '01 - CM tire, 98 hp, 990 kg

Fastest lap was 1:30.611

Hard. Numerous tries. Barely won.

No Numbers I had to use a third party PS3 controller - which felt odd to say the least.

Managed a triple of wins at the first track (Reminds me a bit of Jerez with the tight hairpin into a long loopy sweeper, really nice flow to it...) but my controller kept bugging out... changing gears was amusing, but locking the steering was not as much fun! I never managed a clean race, but it is more than do able if your controller doesn't run out of power mid race! I used a Mitsubishi GTO SR - Old hector that it is. Will be back here as the flow of the track was great.

Matterhorn -
Tried the Tamora - what a dream of a car... had a Ruf CTR to chase down and after 3 cracks managed to get to within 0.094 of that - Not at home with this controller, but it was enjoyable trying to relearn the game. The Yellowbird was way ahead of the rest of my grid, and I had an Audi tootling about like he was trying to drop off the kids at school... "Out of the way. I'm trying to lose a race here mate!"

Didn't go to Indiana ... Good luck chaps.

500PP at Matterhorn Dristelen:
496PP
- 1:13.492 - 5:40.350 - Honda DUALNOTE '01 - SH - 4WD - 388hp - 1400kg - M5 '08 - 5:43.207

Prize car so cheaper than chips. I thought I already had one. Maybe it's in the stockyard. Polarized tints go purple in the sun making it look rather ridiculous. It goes pretty well really. 4WD (electric at the front) makes it very forgiving of foolish driving but too safe to be properly fun.

327 PP Toyota Vitz is considerably faster than the Jazz at 328. By 5 seconds!

Probably because it's on CS tires.

92 HP, 990 kg

I think the Vitz is the lowest PP car that comes with CS stock. Good choice.

I did the beginner race in the Sprint Speciale '63 of course. Still finding my way round the track. I really need to do some ghost-chasing to work out the best lines, but it's gradually getting imprinted in my feeble brain.
Also at 327PP but with CM tyres is the Bluebird Hardtop 1800SSS (three esses, must be very special). I've got to the front a few times but can only stay there by recklessly blocking. A clean win has got to be possible.

I think the Vitz is the lowest PP car that comes with CS stock.

Nope.

Beginners' Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Eifel CM - 400 PP - SH
300PP
- 1:31.785 - 4:57.600 - Abarts 1500 Biposte Bertone B.A.T 1 '52 - CS - FR - 73bhp - 870kg vs CIVIC SiR-II (EG) '93 +0.139 sec behind , MR-S V Edition (6MT) '02 +0.252 sec behind. (took a few tries to learn the track and figure out where to pass the AI)

Intermediate Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Matterhorn Dristelen - 500 PP - SH
440PP
- 1:12.221 - 5:36.005 - Lotus Elise 111R '04 - SH - MR - 194bhp - 860kg vs F40 '92 +0.938 sec behind

Expert Level Racing Car Challenge: Indianapolis Road Course - 600 PP - RH
560PP
- 1:28.657 - 8:02.513 - Honda ARTA NSX '00 - RH - MR - 481bhp - 1150kg vs Corvette ZR1 (C6) LM Race Car '09 +0.095 sec behind (it took awhile to find a grid without TS030 and/or McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97)

I tried the FT86 concept , Dino , Ford RS200 , Renault Megane Trophy '11 and Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe before using the Elise and ARTA NSX.

Got a clean win in the end. The Roadster was just drawing alongside at the line.

How could I forget the Abarth? I guess the Vitz is the second lowest PP on CS.

Actually.. Mitsubishi COLT 1.5 Sport X Version '02 at 323pp , the Vitz F '12 is 3rd lowest PP car on CS tyres.

I have a list of all the cars that have been used to win in the stock threads but the Colt isn't on it. Maybe now's the time.

Just did an edit. It's on CM tires.
So it is. And I can see why it's not made the list before. Washing machine drive. It's not that slow actually. Got a close second place and could have won by blocking but it's not much fun.

Same here. And the whole experience is definitely on the dull side. I did however manage to drink an entire beer while driving it in one race though, so that counts for something.

Intermediate Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Matterhorn Dristelen - 500 PP - SH
435PP
- 1:15.959 - 5:50.818 - Nissan Silvia 240RS (S110) '83 - SH - FR - 235bhp - 970kg - CTS-V Coupe '11 - 5.52.768

Another one of my not so secret weapons. Needed to find the right grid for this one though. Now I just need to find a last century Nissan to win the expert race for the hat trick.

I did however manage to drink an entire beer while driving it in one race though, so that counts for something.

Now I get the new-found liking of the CVT thing.

Haha! That might be part of the reason. The other being it makes so much sense to put the engine in its sweet spot, and keep it there. Maximum output while I get my maximum input.
